Jorma… Alone Again

January 13th, 2011 4 comments

I almost forgot… Marjorie Thompson and I did a no baloney unplugged show for the Ranchers last night as the Royal Lahaina. Just sitting on the chair with a guitar in front of a bunch of folks… real old school stuff. Anyway, here is what I did:

Sunshine Is Relative

Just a short note from Hawaii. It’s been raining here for the last two days but how often does a Mainlander like me get to see a tropical storm. It’s still delightful, the food is great, the tropical rain refreshing and the guitar workshops outstanding. We are hoping that this will be the First Annual Fur Peace Ranch On The Road in Maui. Nice thought, Eh?

Time for another darned fresh fruit breakfast.

Varieties Of Paradise

beautiful day
This is the way it was yesterday… the Hawaii that us Mainlanders dream about. Perfect temperature… azure seas… dreamtime in reality. Well, there are many aspects to paradise and last night as the sun was setting this was the view:

sunset

By the time the sun was down it was pouring rain and the wind was up. Hey, at least it’s not snowing. Teaching here at this time of year is absolutely great, rain or shine. So far everyone is having a good time and the notes are flying. Well… breakfast time… time for more of that darned fresh fruit.

Tropics… you know I love them…

Last night I played a benefit for transverse myelitis in La Jolla. A great bunch of folks and once again I marveled at the blessing of community that music has given me. Here is my set list:

Back to the hotel at 2300 and up at 0330 to head to the airport and thus onto Maui. Exhausted, but then there’s this…

early sunset

Could be worse, right. Anyway, tomorrow we start with our class here in Lahaina. Fur Peace Ranch hits the road indeed. Well, for me it’s going to finally be a full night’s sleep.

Indeed…

On the one hand, it would have been nice to just stay home but on the other hand, a gig’s a gig and off I go. Tomorrow is a benefit for Transverse Myelitis and then it’s off to Maui to teach for a week. At least it won’t be snowing. In fact, considering it was 18 degrees at home when I left, this is starting to look pretty good. I was about to upload some pictures, but the internet speed is so slow where I am right now it’s really out of the picture, so another time. I’m slowed down by technology, but I’m not out. At least I can go get some delicious Mexican food without going on line. More later folks…

First Sunday Of 2011

January 2nd, 2011 6 comments

2010 slid out and 2011 slid in smoothly and peacefully here in southeast Ohio which is just the way I like it. Except for a couple of days at Thanksgiving, I’ve been working pretty much non-stop so the respite has been muchly appreciated. Just pottering around the homestead today which is fine with me. I just wanted to give a cheery Blog Hello and another Happy New Year to everyone.
