Another Man Done Gone
Yesterday just as Jack and I were getting ready to go onstage at the Crossroads here in Honolulu, I got an email from one of my old buddies… Charlie. Charlie was in Barcelona and he wrote to tell me that my old University Of Santa Clara room mate, Peter Byrne Manchester had just passed away yesterday morning. Peter was my room mate and friend, back when I was in Santa Clara… trying to keep my grades up while playing ...

The Last Two Gigs In Hawaii…
Our time on the Big Island will always be treasured. What a blast. Back to ‘work’ yesterday. I had a nice walk around the Naniloa area.
…and then it was time to go to Honoka’a and the People’s Theater.
What a great artistic community they have in Honoka’a… and the People’s Theater has the greatest sound imaginable.

Another Amazing Day Off!
I’m going to start this little entry with the dinner Jack Casady and I just had in Hilo. We were looking for a place to eat… not that there are a shortage of great restaurants here on the Big Island. We found this:
Lam’s Garden, Vietnamese And Chinese Food was quite simply, incomparable!
I’m making note of this for the next time I’m here!
OK… now to back up a little. Myron, Phil and I drove to Volcano National Park where my ...

Heading For The Valleys And The Hills… New Photos Added
Phil and I started the day at the Hawaiian Style Cafe for breakfast. We forgot that on the Big Island… everything is big. That’s a short stack!
We took the top off our rented Jeep headed out for Waip’o.
And then we were off to Mauna Kea.
And yeah, the air was really thin and I felt it.
It was a great day by all accounts. We got back to Hilo in time to have dinner with Jack Casady and now it’s to ...

Yeah buddy… lots of commentary action since I’ve been here I Hawaii. Interesting… very interesting. When I first stared my ‘blog,’ the term ‘blog’ didn’t even exist yet. Wow… what a forward thinker I am! Anyway, in the beginning not only did I not yet have the technical capacity to allow comments, I didn’t’ want to allow them anyway. I figured, ‘Hey, it’s my space… get your own.’ Hard facts over the years ...

Return To Maui
This was our first, but hopefully not our last, trip to the Mill House at the Tropical Plantation on Maui.
The setting was quite beautiful and couched in memories from Hawaii’s industrial past.
While Myron was preparing us for sound check, I had a chance to roam about the estate a bit.
There was a foto op around every corner!
This is not an inner city gig…
Is nice to see all these old mechanisms live on in a way for us to see.

Dave Lawrence of Hawaii Public Radio hosting us in the studio and conversing with us at the first part of the gig.
Great to be back in the Islands… Phil and I had a chance to have a delightful Japanese tapas style dinner with my old friend Bob Kinzie and his lovely wife Joy.

Welcome To Honolulu
Foto by Phil Jacob
Well… Hawaii is indeed a long way from Meigs County, Ohio… but we made it and so did my guitar and luggage. How good does it have to get? Last night after we offloaded at the hotel, we took a little walk and found a delicious hole in the wall Thai restaurant. Delicious… cheap too.
Being six hours out of whack, sleep was intermittent but there was some and I feel pretty good today. The boys and ...
