The Roots Run Deep

We got to Finland yesterday morning… the trip and the seven hour time change had me pretty whipped but I rallied by evening to go out to a traditional Finnish Restaurant for dinner with some relatives from my Grandmother Ida’s side. Some of these folks were so young I had never met them and some I hadn’t seen in over a quarter of a century. Family is family though and we had a wonderful evening.

Indeed I feel the threads of ancestry here and really, they are more like ropes than threads. The bond of blood is unbreakable.

I’ve got to get ready for this evening’s gig at the Savoy Theater here in Helsinki. You’d best believe that there will be more nostalgic ramblings to follow.

    Dear Jorma,
Absolutely awesome for you to re-connect with your family
And your roots! What a special time to be doing so!
Enjoy the rest of the trip, and keep up your strength for the Beacon!
You know how we like to party here in NYC:)
    See you on the 10th

Fantastic that you go to the place of your ancestors. Too bad you will not be there at Christmas when Joulupukki (Santa Claus) comes from Korvatunturi to bring presents for all the children. You would make a good Joulupukki yourself. I hope I get to Fur Peace Ranch one day. You are an awesome musician. Be well and happy!
