A Night In Vaasa

December 2nd, 2011 Leave a comment Go to comments

Last night Barry and I played the Skafferiet here in Vaasa. This town is not far from Ylistaro from where springs the Kaukonen clan. There were many Kaukonens and friends I had never met before. It was so nice and they made me feel so welcome. Words cannot describe how this trip is making me feel. I have to get back soon.

In any case, a great show for Barry and myself. Here is our set list:

Great to hear a living legend live. As I am a big fan of old American music of almost any kind (especially ragtime, blues, bluegrass, jazz, gospel) I was thrilled to hear the wonderful collection of songs you put in to good use in the concert. I have never heard a duo so in tune with each other, playing with such good humour and finesse. The Ylistaro och Kotka connection of your grandparents on your father’s side is also a big treat for me as a bilingual Finn with both Fenno-Swedish and Finnish roots.
