The Birthday Trip & Season’s Best To All!

winter break 1

I’ve never been to the Ellipse before… here it is. Funny, since this is my home town!

Well, Vanessa and Izze and Eli (the little Yorkshire Terrier) and I drove to the District Of Columbia on Thursday, the night of the 22nd of December. We made it in time to hit the Chinese Visa office on Pennsylvania Ave. and did what we had to do so I can go to China. Friday the 23rd of December was my 71st birthday and I just couldn’t have had a better one. We met my son Zach and his Mom at the National Xmas tree, National Menorah, National Lionel Train Set… well, you get the picture. Zach said goodbye to his Mom and hopped into my Jeep and we all headed back to Hillside Farm where we are now.

A man just couldn’t have had a better birthday… Life is indeed good! My blessings are bountiful and unexpected. I would also like to thank the myriad friends and family who have been showering me with birthday and seasonal greetings. Bless you all.

This is a short one… lots of fun stuff to do on the farm with the kids in this unseasonably warm early winter.

All of you out there, be well… and may this Season be a sweet one for you!

Happy birthday to an extremely talented musician and interesting personality (?!) who’s musical journey I have enjoyed from the beginning of the Airplane to here and now. I hope you and Jack the rest of the crew play many, many more years. You-all are a candle in the night.

First time I ever heard you play was 1967, sitting on a bunker in Vietnam, listening to a little cassette tape my mom sent with others. It was late, we were high, watching flares and fire out in the distance…Surrealistic Pillow – blew us completely away. Anyway, I’m a dulcimer player, and have a version of Embryonic Journey worked out and love it, same as always, 34 years later. Would greatly enjoy the chance to play it with or for you at Wanee – Gonna be there for sure.
