Perfection In The County

The weekend begins with beauty!

The weekend begins with beauty!

This past weekend at the Fur Peace Ranch we hosted Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams as well as Happy Traum. Happy, Larry and myself conducted classes and Teresa flew in for the concert on Saturday night. It was a beautiful weekend and I was ably assisted in my class by the wondrous Marjorie Thompson. Larry and Teresa’s show Saturday night was as elegantly beautiful as it always is. I got to play a couple of numbers with them as did Happy. To simply say, ‘What a night!’ would be an understatement.

Sunday, we did a little show for the students. I opened with a couple of numbers… called Larry and Teresa up and then our good friend Pat Sweany stopped by on his way to Nashville and played a couple numbers. On came Happy Traum and he alternately brought up Larry and Teresa, as well as Pat and myself. It was one of those absolutely perfect evenings of music without pressure!

It’s hard to beat perfection!

Once again, the Fur Peace Ranch give us a dwelling place that reinforces why we play music anyway.

Good times!

Saw this post yesterday about the week-end with Larry Campbell and have now been reading the news of what appears to be Levon’s final journey of this stage…a life well-lived, who, like you, has filled heads and hearts with music to warm our souls…I was fortunate enough to have caught one of Levon’s shows late last month in Tarrytown…a great night with Larry and his daughter Amy leading the charge and Levin’s back-beat as strong as ever …I also fondly recall Larry’s parting end of show words to the audience….”…Let’s hear it for the man who has sung his ass of for you, Levon Helm…”…a gentle man indeed who gave us all part of the sound-track of our lives and who let us put the load right on him…

    Peter:
    Larry can play. Anything. Well.
    Teresa can sing. Anything. Well.
My old man taught me something that I live by, and I’ll share it with you here: “You got nothing good to say, keep quiet”. Nuf said.

I’ll keep Levon in my prayers.
