Landmarks In Time

Last weekend some of my buds in recovery and I motored up to Akron for the 77 anniversary of the founding of AA. I’ve been to every Founders Day but two in the last fifteen years. I really look forward to this as an introduction to summer and a charging of my spiritual batteries.

The bike ride up through multiple counties was stunning and there’s nothing like a putt with like minded spirits. Up in Akron, we paid our respects at Dr. Bob’s grave

This is my first stop every year on the Akron run!

Yeah… good stuff, climaxed by the big meeting Saturday nights and the run to Dr. Bob’s grave on Sunday.

Make a joyful noise...

Make a joyful noise...

Alcoholism… taking many prisoners… destroying all in its path…

Moving right along… on June 12, had my Mom been alive, she would have celebrated her one hundred and first birthday… Happy birthday Mom. She’s been gone since 1998 and I still miss her. Her at Hillside Farm, its mowing, bush hogging and pressure washing… country living at its best…

Izze’s been riding motorcycles with me and my son comes tomorrow… we are all healthy. indeed, it could not get much better!

Drive on…

I just want to thank you for all you did. All those shows – all those years. And I’m happiest because you’ve finally found love and peace. You are a very special person. One of the coolest guys alive[can’t forget about Jack} and I’m glad our paths have crossed in this lifetime. And for all those stage passes back in the ’70’s. I’m so glad I was THERE. I’ve slowed down quite a bit from my stroke but I try to see you as much as I can. Happy Summer and Happy Fathers Day.

Happy fathers day Jorma..to you and all of us dads.

Glad being sober is working for you out in Ohio…sounds like the view from up top the wagon suits you.

On another note; IATT = its almost Tuna Time; and elektric to boot. Folks down herein DC/VA/PA/NY are ready to rock and roll…see you in Richmond and Stroudsberg real soon.

And finally a question – whats up with the Beacon in NYC this December…any plans for Tuna to play?

    Thanks and see you soon…………..

Great Post! It’s a good reminder that “new beginnings” should always be celebrated and that the inspiration gained from them is validated. My Mom would have turn 99 this year and Dad 102. Both have been gone since 1973 but the values of that generation still live on with me as I suspect they do for you as well.

I remember when going to a Hot Tuna show meant getting as wasted as you could. I so much more enjoy Tuna shows now a days. At least I can remember the show the next day. I think we’ve all grown with you Jorma and your words and actions are very inspiring to me. Looking forward to the acoustic show in Santa Cruz next month. And happy belated Father’s Day.

    To quote you, “Onward”

    Once again I find myself going back in time , reading Jorma’s blog . It’s March 26 2015 , blog June 15 , 2012 . I keep coming back to read snippets of wisdom , humor , & comfort .
Hey someone had the same idea I did and wrote it in one of your blog comments , put all this in a book ! How fantastic that would be. Certainly a good read and never boring and sometimes even educational . You do seem very steady and true to your course . God Bless with Peace and Love .
