Jesse Colin Young Comes To The FPR

Saturday night last we hosted Jesse Colin Young and his band at the Fur Peace Station. In addition to his lovely wife Connie, who provided back up vocals, violin and percussion, Jesse was assisted by a fabulous band comprised of Mike Frost on bass, John Chin on keyboards, and John West on drums. My apologies to John… I couldn’t find a website for him. If anyone does… I’ll fix that.

Jesse has been around on the national scene even longer than me and my pals from the day. They were already a national act when I was still trying to decide if I wanted to join a rock and roll band… Anyway, like me and mine… Jesse is still out there doing it and bringing his art to people all over the world. Saturday, he left a lot of people happy here in Meigs County, Ohio.

At the end of his second set, he invited me to join him o stage for a T-Bone walker shuffle as well as the memorable song Get Together…

It all brought back a lot of memories… but most important… we made new ones. For me, it was a moment in Rock And Roll History.

Good times indeed… Thanks Jesse!

    Come on people now
    Smile on your brother
    Everybody get together
Gotta love one another right now…

At least that’s the way I remember it. What a song!
I didn’t know it was around long before the Youngbloods version, or that it was written by Dino Valenti/Chet Powers from Quicksilver Messenger Service!

Saw him at a Seattle Bumbershoot Festival back in the ’70s – highlight of the festival for me

The fuzztone solo in Darkness, Darkness still reigns as one of my favorites.

More good times at the Ranch sounds like….

Get Together is such a great tune…We cover it in my “electric” band, and it ALWAYS get the audience singing and dancing and just plain feelin’ good!

Have a great Labor Day Weekend Jorma

Saw Jesse with John Sebastian and Carly Simon (what a night!) at the Hot Tin Roof on Martha’s Vineyard some 30 years ago, way back when you first played there, Jorma.
