Happy Thanksgiving One And All

November 22nd, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

Today being Thanksgiving and all… and me being unexpectedly home, Vanessa and izze and I climbed into my Fiat Abarth and roared up to the road to Vinton County and Lake Hope State Park. This magnificent spot is one of my motorcycle destinations but it was almost as much fun in the Fiat Abarth… especially with Thanksgiving Dinner as the destination.

Dinner is not far away.

Dinner is not far away.

The last time I was up in Lodge country was right after the old lodge burnt down. The new one was stunning… and I could smell the food from the deck.

On the way to the dining room, we were greeted by a wild turkey… gobble, gobble, gobble.

Come one, come all

Come one, come all

Here is the buffet menu:

Gerber chicken and noodles, made from scratch
Ohio raised turkey
Smoked and oven roasted prime rib
Oven roasted dry rub pork loin
Mashed potatoes
Traditional mashed smoked sweet potato
Cranberry sauce
Made from scratch rolls
Pumpkin pie
Assorted fruit cobblers

Our old friend Matt Rapposelli, the owner and chef from Big Chimney was ramrodding this operation so I knew the food would be great… and it surpassed my wildest dreams. Check this… This magnificent buffet for three was under fifty dollars! Under fifty dollars for all this stuff, for three people. What a Dinner!.

We, the Kaukonens, have so much to be grateful for… we all do.

Hope you folks enjoyed this day was much as we did…

Thanks for the great pics and T-day check in and wishes etc….I doubt that menu could be touched anywhere for 50 for 3…Dry rubbed pork loin!Have you had any time to wander your property in pursuit of very lean Ohio venison? Take care.

I thought Thanksgiving would fall on a Sunday, whereas it’s on the fourth Thursday of November, I’m late for greetings but never too late to repeat myself for the umpteenth time in saying thanks Jorma for your music for your love for caring for the spiritual hints for sharing on purpose whatever thing pertains to your experience. And thanks for occupying my life from the aubade of redemption.

Hey Richard… as much as I love our Meigs County Venison… it’s bow season until Monday by which time I’ll be working again. Unfortunately, Robin Hood I’m not. I sure look forward to my buds sharing some tasty delights with me when I get back. Hope springs eternal…

Jorma and family, happy day-after Thanksgiving! I hear you about gratitude and knowing you’re blessed. I woke yesterday thinking how lucky I am – loving friends and family, a job, a place to live, 3 psychotic cats to keep me company, reasonably decent health. I am paying it forward – donating towards the rebuilding/recovery relief after Sandy in NYC; donating towards the replenishment of Norton Records whose stock and warehouse was flooded by Sandy; and donating 5 flocks of chicks through Heifter International to help starving people learn livestock management skills and eat/profit from the gift. I am a very grateful person. I am also grateful for the intangible, yet priceless, gift of your music throughout my life. Keep on keeping on! Regards, Kathy

OK Jorma I screwed up..I am sure it sounded silly about your Fiat. I was refering to the 1960s Fiat . Was watching TV and saw the add for the NEW Fiat Abarth.. Sorry for the confusion..

Happy Thanksgiving to the Kaukonens and all the folks who make FPR the heavenly place it is. One of the things I am thankful for this year is having had the chance to go to that little piece of heaven that is FPR this past August, making me eligible to be an FPS recidivist!
