Go East Young Man

December 9th, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

Yesterday Myron and I drove from good old Southeast Ohio to a hotel near Dulles International Airport. Why? Because this afternoon I’m meeting my son Zach and we are heading to Bilbao, Spain for a gig at Sala BBK. Our first trip to Spain ever… New territory indeed. The we leave for Israel where we have three gigs. Zappa in Jeruselem, Hemdat Yamin in Amirim and then to Tel Aviv for a gig at the Zappa Club there.

Needless to say, as short as this trip is (one week, give or take) I am very excited about the journey and I will be blogging a away as internet access allows.

Onward… indeed!

How Awesome! Safe travels… and in case you are wondering what they wrote about you, here is the google translation from Sala BBK.

    The master of fingerstyle guitar

The climax to the cycle Music Legends will put the great Jorma Kaukonen. On December 11, you have a date with history, and sounds lisergia more acidic.

He is master of fingerstyle guitar. Jorma and drink is the source of the most lively and effervescent Rock of time and tradition of American Folk and Blues, the latter more obvious elements in his work with Hot Tuna (parallel band formed with members of Jefferson Airplane). He lived in San Francisco during the 60’s and you could hear the guitar accompanying a young Janis Joplin in local clubs and concerts in which he recorded with The Typewriter Tapes in 1964. Jorma is one of the leading representatives of the acid sound and was part of one of the most emblematic and iconic groups of American psychedelic Jefferson Airplane period.
