So we’re getting ready to leave Arcata, CA for Grants Pass, Oregon and before we do, we make a quick stop at Wildwood Guitars in lovely downtown Arcata.

What an old beauty. Reminds me of the one Perry Lederman used to play.

I remember hearing Perry play in Berkeley in 1962 and ’63… ragas… Blew my mind back then. Check out some of his stuff if you can.

Anyhoo… an exciting bus trip through the snow covered mountains to Grants Pass where we will have our first Hot Tuna show of this year.

Grants Pass... we are here!

Now I feel like a wimp complaining that it’s 49 degrees in Santa Barbara!

    Hey Jorma –

Greetings from Bend, Oregon. Hey, I first saw you guys in ’71 or ’72 (um, I can’t remember for some reason). Anyway, we’re excited to go see you tomorrow. The amazing thing is that my 14 year old daughter, who has a bit of familiarity with your music, is going with us. Get that – my teenaged daughter wants to go with HER PARENTS to see 70 some odd year old musicians play acoustic guitars. Is this a great life or what? So safe travels and we really look forward to the show!

Wow. Thanks for the heads up about Perry Lederman. I see Talbott’s on that link also. So much talent in the area then, yourself and Steve Mann. I see there was a guitarist named Bill Munday around then too.

I found this link of Perry’s playing and a 1960 pic:

Thankfully you’re still carrying on Jorma. Keep it going.

    Hey now,

Elijah Wald produced a CD compilation of some of Perry Lederman’s recordings – culled from Perry’s personal collection of tapes:

I ordered my copy today. Looking forward to checking Perry out. The Captain has never steered me wrong.

Darn, I missed you! Haven’t seen you since Knebworth, England in ’77… Time flies. Best to you!
