Maverick love chicken pot pie too...

Maverick love chicken pot pie too...

So anyhow… day before yesterday, Nessa made a delicious chicken pot pie… Maverick had a tough time heading back to his kibble after sniffing this delicacy.

Yesterday, was the Holiday Dinner for all of the folks who work at the Fur Peace Ranch. It was also a celebration of sorts for John Hurlbut’s birthday… and mine as well.

Yeah I know... I'm missing and so is John

Yeah I know... I'm missing and so is John

I’m taking the picture and John is to the right of Izze… I just couldn’t get back far enough. It’s just about John’s 60th and my 75th. Well, I’m not for week, but at this point… who’s counting.

The food was outstanding… everyone brought a dish… and there wasn’t much in the way of leftovers.

Happy Holidays everyone!!!!

happiest of birthdays and merriest of christmases to you all.

these days, when everyone’s blasting and few are listening, it warms the heart to see groups of people who care and support each other and who work at something that gives to so many …. well, anyway. be well, all.

Jorma, my face book page has been getting advertisements from teechip.com for a hoodie sweatshirt with yours and Jack’s face stating “I don’t need therapy, I just need to listen to Hot Tuna. While it’s a nice hoodie, I am loathe to purchase as I’m a loyal fan and if you’re not profiting from this I will not purchase. Just thought I’d pass this along as artists in this day and age need to be rewarded for their talent.
Other than that, glad to see you and your family are healthy and ready for a new year. Happy Holidays, I missed my birthday Hot Tuna show at the Ridgefield Playhouse, darn kids in college suck up all my discretionary funds. I turned 61 that day.

Ha, we are eating at the Grafton Pub by the Old Town School of Folk Music Saturday night before we check out this ol’ guy at the Old Town later that evening. I’ve heard he’s pretty good – we’ll see!

Anyway, the Grafton has a Sheperd’s pie that is delicioso,- sounds like a winner.

Below is a note I sent to DJ extraordinaire, Lin Bremer this morning at WXRT in Chicago. Hope you enjoy the story.

That was the best ending to a Bin that you have ever done. That Charlie Brown Christmas is one of my all time favorites. I love the jazzy piano in the back ground. “I don’t know, it’s not so bad Charlie Brown.” Oh, to have a friend like Linus. I love the way Linus gives the tree his precious blankie to wrap around the base of the tree!

I attached a picture I took this fall in my hood. It’s a picture of this beautiful bush that sprouted in the middle of a concrete garden at an intersection in Homewood. I drove by the bush often and finally got out of the car and took some pictures with my phone. While not exactly as enchanting as the burning bush Moses encountered, the bush never failed to put a smile on my face.

At any rate, Monday night I drove by the bush and someone had put some ornaments and tinsel on it!. I decided to go out and get some battery powered lights, but someone had already beaten me to it. I might have to find a star to put on top.

I’m so glad God created me with a mind that could enjoy such folly!

One last tidbit; When my daughter was about 4 or 5, we had this kids Christmas carol book. It was the type where you push a button and it would play the tune of the carol. My daughter used to make me sing everyone before we turned the lights out. I told my wife one day, “I think Taylor likes the sound of my voice.”

Nathalie burst my bubble when she said, “She’s just trying to get to stay up longer.” Fond memories though.

    Emmanuel – “God with us”

This truly is the most wonderful time of the year – even more so when we once again are blessed with your presence in The Windy City.

    Peace and Merry Christmas,

I always feel good when I read Jorma’s posts. They often are truly inspirational. And for those of us who live vicariously through others, this one just makes me feel especiallu good (and a bit envious)!

Happy holidays to one and all and happy birthday to Jorma and John.

    God Bless

By the way, those are two dark haired beauties at the dinner table! Vanessa looks a bit guilty. The photo is a stark reminder of all the dog training rules we failed on over the years. We jad a gorgeous black Akita as our firstdog. We were bound and determined to cage train him and let him know right off the bat who was the alpha in the house. My wife and I got him bunkered down in his cage in the kitchen, and headed to bed that first nigjt. Almost immediately, the puppy who already owned our hearts, started whimpering. My wife lasted about five minutes before she made a bed for him next to her in our bedroom.

That dog trainer guy on TV would have a field day with us. I think the thing I like most about dogs is how they run to the door to greet you when you come home. We could learn a bit from our furry, four legged ftiends, eh?

And Vanessa, I hope you snuck Maverick a morsel or two under the table when no one was looking!
