Vanessa, Izze and I as well as two of Izze’s friends from school all came to the Bay Area together for these shows at Freight And Salvage and we had a little time to take the girls on some great sightseeing trips.

Nessa and Izze and her buddies at the Lone Sailor Memorial. Just another memorial to them, but it reminded me that my Dad sailed out under the Golden Gate on a troop transport in 1944 to fight in WWII. Glad he made it back… my Uncle Pentti too…

A magical day!

Just one of those rare magical days in the Bay Area in Winter. Lucky to be a part of it!

We couldn’t get any farther into the Headlands. Closed due to government shutdown.Don’t get me started. Then we joined Jack Casady and Madame Cecilia Chiang at In Situ at the Museum Of Modern Art. In 1964 I was barely getting by as a college student and aspiring musician. Cecelia had just opened her Mandarin Restaurant on Post Street. With barely enough money for a small dinner, she always treated me and my family with respect and I shall never forget this. At 99 years of age, she is still a force of nature and it was an honor for us to have our daughter Izze, meet her!

I will always treasure this moment! It is the memories of times like these that help define our lives!

Parking sentiment for a moment, I let the ladies do some shopping and I killed time until they were done.

Then out Geary Blvd. to a vista point near Cliff House… just in time to catch the last rays of light.

A fine day of sightseeing with the family and then, time to get to work.

We were in Nashville on New Years and talked to some of the leftover salmon boys.
They said they were playing soon in the Cavern in Monteagle Tn.They said look up venue.
Lo and behold, another piscatorian delight on August 30, TROGLODYTIC Tuna -Electric no less.
Well ,we got tickets and can’t wait for this subterranean experience.
Rock the stalactites off the Fukien ceiling.
    We will be there.
355 .00’ feet underground -cool as shat.

Glad you got to spend New Years with your ladies. BTW you can close every night with an encore of Water Song. I always get excited with anticipation when I see that second guitar on stage tuned to open G (not that I can see the tuning).

Hey Jorma, this place is very close to where you are playing in Clearwater. Not sure if you’re a sushi fan, but I’ve never tried it so can’t vouch for their food, but would love to see a picture of you and Jack hanging outside the joint. I’m always tempted to go in and see if they are familiar with the real Hot Tuna.

I was planning on coming to see the Clearwater show, but as luck would have it the following day is our 105th annual Gasparilla Pirate Invasion and Parade in Tampa. My participation in this extravaganza requires me to be in S. Tampa at 7 AM. Too old to do those late night early morning combos like I could in the old days. Thankfully we get you passing through here on the reg so we’ll catch you next time.

Beautiful photos of family and the Bay area. I lived there for a period of time and will never , ever, forget the raw and rugged beauty of the California coastline. As always ; thank you for sharing and enjoy the balance of your trip…….

Nice to see pix of you in SF, lived there myself for 25 years, saw you and Jack play there several times. Now in Maui, when you’re back here, will love to see you again. Happy new year.

I remember the first night we arrived in SF. You drove us up to the top of the Presido for a towering view of the city and beyond. Then we strolled along Fisherman’s Wharf and picked some street food from Aliotos and elsewhere. A memory emblazoned on my mind.
So wonderful that you were able to see your 99 year old friend.
