Steady As She Goes Opens In Easton, Maryland

The gang and I are in Easton, Maryland to debut Steady As She Goes, our new CD. We’re doing four electric gigs behind this and tonight is the first of those. Jack and I are both from the Chesapeake Bay area, so in a way, it seems only fitting that since our music started here… the first live performance of many of these songs will start here as well.

We have Larry Campbell and Theresa Williams on board for this launch as well as the core members, Jack Casady, Barry Mitterhoff, Skoota Warner… and of course, myself.

This is going to be a dandy. I’ll be there, and you should be too!

I was wondering with a new cd out what are your thoughts on the way music is and has been delivered. You obviously run almost the complete gamut from mono albums to todays ever evolving methods .You should have some interesting musings on the whole subject

Hey Jose from 4/25 – I remember a Steve Martin from college – SUNY New Paltz – I was the president of the Concert Committee and steve was a wide eyed freshman back in 1975-76. I was following Tuna 3-4 years already through Ronny Attuniti and Richie Mandracchio. Fast forward to New Paltz. Tuna played @ NP twice while I was there. The first time noone on the CC ever heard of them or didn’t think they’d draw, they wanted Aztec Two Step, it was killing me. Anyway I got a call from Herbie Herbert the manager of some new band called Journey who offered to open for HT for $1,000. So I got the OK from the CC and drove down to the Hilton in NYC, met the band and the show was such a success signing Hot Tuna a second time was a no brainer. Sold out and people crawling in the basement windows. It was a trip!

I am pumped! Tonight I will be in the front row of the balcony of this sweet little art deco theater about 20 minutes from my home listening to truly big-time first-rate performing artists who have been in the forefront of my cultural history for about 40 years – with a terrific new album just out as well. I’ve been to a Sh-load of concerts in that time, but I can hardly think of one where the stars were as aligned as this one feels like. In addition to guitar playing skills, the characteristic I most cherish in my music is respect for our roots, and obviously this is Hot Tuna’s meat and potatoes. Hey, Jorma, you are the light of the world, man, let it shine!
