A Day In The Life… and Pete Huttlinger Update

Some of the guys in an earlier blog commented that their wives mowed… That’s good stuff indeed and in fact my wife mows occasionally although she doesn’t enjoy it like I do. That said, we both ride motorcycles and today was our first ride together of the year. The orange and black Nightster is hers… a 1200 cc motor in a bike that doesn’t weigh much over 400 pounds. it’s a tire shredding little monster, let me tell you. In the background you can see my more sedate looking 96 cubic inch Fat Bob.

sunday ride

Hey, someone has to run the subways.

I’m listening to ‘Through The Window Of A Train’ by Blue Highway. Nothing like a little late model bluegrass after a good bike ride. With Memorial Day coming I suggest listening to Homeless Man and Two Soldiers both on this CD. Very moving, and it reminds me of friends I know.

Speaking of friends, I need to talk about my friend Pete Hutlinger. Pete has some serious health issues and could definitely use our support. Go to his Caring Bridge site and please check out ways to make helpful donations and/or supportive thoughts. Healthcare is always ridiculously expensive and every little bit helps.

Last night I was talking to Pat Bergeson a Nashville guitar player and fisherman. When the subject of fish and guitars come up, Pete is at the head of the list. Let’s see if we can help him out. Oh yeah, check out John Hurlbut’s Blog on the Fur Peace Ranch site about this too! The Ranch is taking up a collection for Pete Huttlinger who has had some major heart surgery….
you can read about it on John’s blog…..”Checking the Levels”……while there you can also check out
the great interview I did with the Hurl before taking off for the CD release parties……..

That’s about it for now. Sunday is rolling up it’s sidewalks and tomorrow another week begins.

You guys rock ! ! ! ” You have come a long way baby ” rememebr that commercial?
The picture of the bikes are wonderful. I can tell you guys take good care of them.
When I was a toddelr I had a honda 50, and then went on to ride some bigger models
as I grew older, My one favorite was a Kawasaki 175, One of my neighbors who owned a local radio station took a picture of me, At A yeild sign in front of his house < My helmet and jeans and serious expression.
anyway, your blugrass suggestion is right on and Memorial Day coming yp and all, living so far south I cant get to any gigs and then my son is nine so.
Oh gosh the Honda 250 so quiet and so fun, wow you are really blessed to have a wife that rides bikes! Im a little afraid of the main rodes I like the country and trails and DIRT! We had some trails in our neighborhood and I knew excactly when to put my foot down at every turn everytime, I had one wreck in college but that was it, on gravel taking a sharp turn. Had a helmet w/ a face gaurd or else id still be single anyway. You have a life like a lot of my married friends and Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like if I could have stuck it out with someone. Here is to Memorial Day, Motorcycles And Music. Peace to you guys!

Also I dont know who you mentioned that needs assistance but I hope he gets
all that he needs I did not think of that untill after I made a comment, resources
are so important for all those in need. I know the fish will be waiting for him when he gets better.

When I was little we , I , actually went to the lake every weekend, with my nieghbors, the Schoonovers. Yep, weird name. Mine is powell so, anyway. I went with them and they taught me how to ski and fish. One weekend my parents and brother came up to see me and we went fishing in their dark boat harbor garage thing,
my brother and I and Mrs. Schoonover. I remember I was catching all these fish.
My brother moved closer to me so as to catch some fish too. He wasn’t catchin any at all. She got very mad at him for some reason. The water was not clear so you could not see anything when you swam at all. Sometimes it would get kind of creepy. the mud at the bottom of the lake was slimy and went through your toes. Well, at least i was ok at skiing, I could jump a wave, and go from side to side of the crests in the waves as the boat sped along. Sometimes i’d fall and theyd turn around , come back and get me. They had infinite patience. I was waving once at my friends older brother by several years, smiled One hand in the air… and fell gracefully into the water.I was like 5 or 6. Oh well, My son just got out of school for the summer. I just bought this stuff at the store called Earthquake and was bored. I know you guys are on a different agenda as i have my own as well. So not trying to take over the blog. Its just the subject of fish. I guess we all have a story.
