The day in the bay area brought back thoughts of Mom and Dad, gone now eight and nine years respectively. Their story is now unchanging and yet I often feel their presence. Barry and I played the Great American Music Hall last night. Dad used to love that venue. Over the sold out crowd I could see angels circle from the stage. 'Hello Dad, how are you doing?' 'Not bad son, considering I'm dead. I see what you're getting at with your music. Keep at it, you're getting better...' '...working at it Dad, working at it1' Here is our set list:

Here at the hotel in L.A. we're not far from the Inglewood Cemetary where Mom, Dad, Gramdma, Granddad and Uncle Pentti will rest until it no longer matters. Here in the City Of Angels I have angels too.
I miss you guys...

Well, we're finally here at Telluride... gasping away at 10,000 feet. With another good night's sleep in a stationary place, the remnants of my cold should disappear.
Barry is off to Italy and Jack and I will hold down the fort until we all meet up in Hawaii. For now, a call home and then to bed.

The great guitar builder Scott Baxendale who built my Mossman Texas back in the early 80's (the guitar in my first Homespun Video) made a new neck for the poor Mossman which has been sidelined for almost fifteen years. (a dreadful airline accident) He also brought some of his new Baxendales which are simply stunning.
There were friends from the Ranch, relatives and guitars, guitars. What a night. Simply a pleasure all the way around... and I thought Jack and I played great! Now we're off to Denver...

Back to the laundry room...

Last night I burst out of the bubble for a wondrous BBQ at with our friends Ben and Nancy who graciously invited us into their home. I so rarely have time to do anything on the road other than roade stuff, so this was double blessing... and the chow was happening too!
We're leaving tomorrow morning for Hawaii so I'm plunging into the final packing frenzy now. More anon...
Wednesday, February 15, 2006 1105 Kaua'i, Hawaii
It seems heard to imagine that I was in Denver yesterday and here I am hooked up with my pasl again on this beautiful island in the middle of the Pacific. I had a great night's sleep, a delicious breakfast with all kinds of fresh fruit and now having strung my guitar and written the set list, I'm going for a walk on the beach.
It's a rough job, but somebody has to do it!

Home, home, home... It's been a long month and a half and it's really great to get home, if only for a day. I'm heading off for the East Coast tomorrow and this morning when I woke up in my own bed and Vanessa and I looke out the window and saw the young three legged deer feeding by the apple trees it was truly amazing. She has survived most of the winter and there she was sharing her life with us for a moment.
The dogs, the cats, the whole deal... I love this place... a moment of peace in the country!
Onward!

Monday, February 27, 2006 0657 Arlington, Virginia
After the Bromberg show, Vanessa and I moseyed on down to meet my son Zack and two turtles for the weekend in Virginia. Yeseterday we went to the Washington Monument, and the Museum Of Natural History. Then we went back to the hotel and met one of Zack's Finnish pals from school for a swimming play date... after dinner there was calligraphy practice and some of the closing moments of the Olympic Games and it was bed time. It's orning here now and the sun is gleaming on the monument. In about half an hour I'm going to start getting the little guy up and ready for school and Vanessa and I will head back to Ohio.
What a weekend!
