Saturday, March 01, 2008 0716 Honolulu, Hawaii

Yesterday Barry and I joined my old friends Bob and Joy for dinner at a wondrous Korean Restaurant. I ate stuff I've never had before... what a gustatory experience. After dinner we walked over the the Waikiki Yacht Club and as we sat looking at the boats, a fireworks display erupted over the beach.

Good stuff!

Our whirlwind tour of the Islands here is over and I will be heading to the airport around 1700. We got a late check out at the hotel and I spent the morning swimming and listening to whales underwater and catching a few rays. What a nice way to end a hectic trip. I'll be home with the family tomorrow and I sure look forwsrd to that. No matter where you are in the world, it's always nice to go home.

Tuesday, March 4, 2008 0835 Phoenix, Arizona

Well, Hawaii is a thing of the past. We flew out at ten something last night and here we are in Phoenix after an unbelievably uncomfortable flight. We've got about an hour and a half to wait for the next plane and then it's home.

I miss it.

'So I suppose when you get home you're going to kick back for a while?' Not exactly... The Ranch opens today, Izze needs this and that everyday and life is just about as full as I can stand. It is great to be home and be confronted with these blessings and I welcome them. Next week Zach is coming to visit for Spring Break and I look forward to my time with the boy.

Right now I'm heading over to the Ranch for our first session of 2008. Marjorie will be assisting me and I'm sure a good time will be had by all. I rode my motorcycle yesterday and in the evening the sky was filled to overflowing with stars. Today it's raining and it's going to snow later. Yow! Onward!

Monday, March 10, 2008 1410 Hillside Farm, Meigs County

Friday as the Ranch was opening for the first time this year the blizzard of '08 struck. Over twenty inches of snow at the airport in Columbus. Wow, and to think that I was riding my motorcycle just a couple of days ago. The good news was that the students came in before it hit and if one had to be snowed in, what better place than the Fur Peace Ranch. The students were great, some old... some new. The fellowship warmed the rooms (as well as the HVAC units)... the food was great and we were back in full swing before you knew it.

There was no formal concert this weekend. Marjorie Thompson did a little show for the folks on Saturday night and I did one last night. Small, intimate... and totally acoustic. I broke out my old J-50 for the occasion. It's going to stay out, by the way.

The snow had almost all melted by yesterday afternoon and there is a warming trend that threatens that Spring may indeed, be around the corner. The Great Blizzard Of '08 was over!

It's good to be back in the saddle again... so to speak. My son Zachary is coming to visit later this week and I sure look forward to that. Well, it's great to be home. I think I'll take the trash out.

Sunday, March 16, 2008 1642 Hillside Farm, Meigs County

Wednesday, March 19, 2008 1023 Hillside Farm, Meigs County

The week with Zach has gone by like lightning. It rained almost all week so we didn't get to do much in the way of outside stuff but there's always next time.

We're off tomeet his Mom. More anon...

Saturday, March 22, 2008 1029, Hillside Farm, Meigs County

The last week unrolled at an amazing pace. Here it is the first weeekend of Spring and in spite of the moderate chill, I hope to get a ride in. Breakfast is almost ready and it looks like a dandy day in the offing.

Maybe I'll practice my guitar too!

Monday, March 24, 2008 1216 Hillside Farm, Meigs County

Well folks, it's Spring Break in Athens so Izze's Child Development Center is closed for a week or so. What does this mean. Well, it means that I am Mr. Mom today. Why am I on the computer? Well, she's napping for a bit so I thought I'd take this moment to say, 'Hello!' What a trip! Who knew?

I did get the motorcycle out for a bit yesterday in the early evening. It was alittle cool, but that's what they make warm clothes for. At home the girls were waiting for me with a hot lasagna and a cheery smile.

Well, well... I just wanted to log on for a moment and now I think I'll look for a clean diaper before she wakes up.

Onward!

Thurday, March 27, 2008 1120 Hillside Farm, Meigs County

I've had the opportunity to spend a lot of time at home this week and I've enjoyed every minute of it. Spring is toying with us... warm one day, cold and rainy the next but today at least it is warm and rainy. The Ranch is in full swing tomorrow with a conert by Roger McGuinn on Sunday night... Oh yeah... I'll be there too. For instructors this weekend we have Chris Turner, Pat Sweany, Geoff Achison and yes, myself as well.

It will be nice to be back in the saddle again.

Sunday, March 30, 2008 2125 Fur Peace Ranch, Meigs County

This weekend at the Ranch we had great instructors... Pat Sweany, Geoff Achison, Chris Turner and yours truly. tonight as I write this, Roger McGuinn is playing beautiful music on our own stage. It really doesn't get much better than this. I opened the show for Roger and her is my set list:

1. New Song For The Morning

3. Trial By Fire
4. Living In The Monment
5. True Religion
6. Uncle Sam Blues

I have to tell you, it was an honor to open this show for Roger.

I love this job!
