Yesterday AM at the Fur Peace Ranch
We were going to get rolling early from the Fur Peace Ranch yesterday morning but the bus wouldn’t start. Ever taking the more optimistic view, we loaded up and by the time everything was on board… it started. Hmmm….
No trailor... everything got stuffed into the bays
Vanessa and Izze were on board for this leg of the trip. This doesn’t happen often, so I as really looking forward to it.
A stop at Cracker Barrel for lunch
There’s nothing like a Cracker Barrel stop at least once in every road trip… and here’s ours!
Moving right along… we got to the George Washington Bridge about 2230 and if I’d been paying attention to 1010 WINS, I would have known about the construction. Anyway, two hour later we got to our hotel in Manhattan. Good times in traffic!

This morning we had an interview to tape at ABC radio with Matt Friedlander. After this I went back to the hotel for a bit and the Phil and I took the train downtown to Rockefeller Plaza where Vanessa and Izze were ice skating.

After the gals got done with the ice, we walked around Manhattan for a while.
Shopping anyone?
Yeah, it’s starting to get pretty whacked out on the streets here, but for an out of towner it’s a lot of fun.

With hunger overtaking us, we decided on Joe’s Shanghai for some soup dumplings and dinner. Delicious indeed. Now back at the hotel, it’s time to contemplate the set lists for the gig tomorrow at the Institute For Ethical Culture. Saturday night, of course, is the Beacon Theater.
Hope to see lots of you at both places.

So sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine what your feeling being a Dad of Three young men, one a Marine and twins that are 1st responders and firefighters. I was fortunate to have one accompany me to the show. I am glad you went and hope your spirits were lifted as were mine. I lost my Dad in September and really needed the energy only Hot Tuna could give. I am sure your son was smiling over you. @Broken Hearted

Neighborhoods, blocks, eateries, literary hang-outs, Museums and music venues.
I remember back in the early 1980’s when The Beacon was slated for demolition.
It’s a grand and historical survival.

Tuna. Thanks much for a great weekend treat. Saw both shows. Got to see some old friends. Got to make some new friends. Spent one nite at malachays and one at Amsterdam ale. Missed meeting up with you John…next time… Now at penn station waiting for a bus back home south of the mason Dixon line to the commonwealth. Great NYC treat. Thank You Jorma, Jack, Skoota, Barry, Teresa and Larry for a true HFT Musical adventure last night at the Beacon. Really enjoyed “Somebody To Love” hope to hear some more timeless classics from that time in your career. Also Looking forward to old school Acoustic HT at Infinity Hall Thanksgiving Eve.

PS if ya get snowed in on Wednesday night, I know a great place for the whole family for Thanksgiving dinner 8 miles away in North Canaan from 12-3pm at appropriately the Pilgrim House. My family and I go eat and donate time or food to this community dinner, plenty of great food and ALL are welcome.

I got tired of ” living in N.Y.C. , however, fun place to visit. Lots to see and do. Jorma, you are an Idol of mine and one of the best blue-grass guitarists in my eyes. I love your work dating all the way back to The Jefferson Airplane. I hope to see you perform live in person soon. May you live on and lift our spirits with your craft for another twenty years.

It was great to hear the band acoustic last night. Larrys’ solo on “Good Shepherd” was so powerful, I thought it broke Jormas’ guitar.
I agree w/JohnB, “Barroom Crystal Ball”, & “BarBQ King” were highlights. I also thought “Let us get Together” was particularly Tuna inspired.
I thought it was a little hard to hear Jormas’ guitar at times.
Made a couple of new friends (thanx John) and had a wonderful time. My local buddies affectionately call Malachys “Stinky Bar”. It’s a real, old school establishment.

That’s the second time now you have mentioned the bus giving you problems. It was most likely all of the positive thoughts flowing your way from in and around New York City that helped get it started. Great show last night and the set list was terrific. Barbecue King and Barroom were just a few of the highlights for me. I wanted to buy one of those 50th anniversary shirts last night but all you had left were large and XL. I haven’t been an XL since I was three or years old so that won’t do. Did I see Zach there last night ? I thought I did. What happened with the guitar during Good Shepard ? Enjoyed a pre show meal at Malachys last night with Joey and there were many other Tuna fans there as well. We will be there again tonight. The food and service were terrific and the place smelled just as you would expect a dive bar to smell. Looking forward to tonight! @susan ansanelli
I had fun last night, and yep “Barroom crystal ball” rocked. It was also super hearing “I am the light of this world”.
If by chance you might take a request, from an old die hard fan for tonight’s show, I would love to hear “feels so good”,it’s been a long time since I heard it live.

To me electric Tuna is the best though, so tonight I figure should be WOW! As a rule, I try not to expect to avoid disappointment. I’m just enjoying technology and being able to share.

The girls look great and Izze is growing up to be a fine young lady, you guys must be very proud. On the train heading down to the city, so looking forward to both shows this weekend, got great seats for the beacon. Rumor has it you will be doing some “Oldies but Goodies”…pretty excited then I get to come home and see you guys next Friday in Syracuse, what a great way to end the year. Looking forward to seeing my two life long friends, some new ones and missing some old one’s especially at the shows but creating new Tuna memories and I thank you for that. First stop Katz’s deli on Houston for a knish and chocolate egg cream…yum..can’t get that stuff in my neck of the woods…love the city run-ins,,,

Yes hot tuna in NYC, it has become one of the few traditions I have. Yes I am excited. Seeing Tuna is like going home, family that binds us and many times we don’t even know each other’s name. It sounds like the guys are relaxed and I think it will rock. Hopefully enough love to keep me till the next tour@Doug Mlyn
Wasnt going to go to the shows this year even though I have tickets for both shows. My 23 year old son died last month to an overdose..My wife told me to go because she says he would have wanted me to go..We were going to the Beacon show together..So to honor him I will be there tonight and tomorrow…Rest in Peace my son…

Looks like fun times in NYC. Flying in on the red eye from Ventura tonight and really looking forward to both shows! Haven’t missed a Beacon Electric show since I can’t remember and the fact that we get an acoustic show in a more intimate setting is icing on the cake. There are lots of us that are very excited! What can I say, it’s Hot Tuna in New York City! As our friend used to say it’s almost time for take off!!!!
