    Hello Jorma
Today is a day of absolute miracles. Here I am with my 11 yr old daughter in Piermont NY-began a chat with the restaurant manager and mention how nice it is. Then onto stating Probably don’t know of Jorma Kaukonen ..hot tuna ( now please this story is a miracle for as a teenager decades ago I stood firmly with my IZOD shirt on stating and presently to class..Jorma Kaukonen is the most talented guitarist in the world of one of them–although no one including myself could understand what I was doing at your concert considering I was just getting over the fact that I wasn’t going to become a nun lol but true)
He mentioned your Ranch…I just sat in awe and so very happy for you ..even my daughter was excited for I was mentioning these songs Water Song. songs from Quah ..that truly had just touched my heart..as a young girl..
Later and I will state that the first time I saw you in concert …I was expecting this acoustic peace..oh well and Quah face and I couldn’t understand what happened with all this electric stuff and why is her playing the same song for an hour ha and more importantly…” is anyone awake here or alive” quite the crowd ..
I was not sure what happened with Hot Tuna..or if still alive..I think you even wrote to that in some of your writings I just looked up.
And now look…Fur Peace Ranch ..you are doing just what I saw in you decades ago.
It was funny I took up guitar in high school and tried to play your songs ..oh well but my entire family knew your music..it played from morning to night.
I am looking back now…I was punished once grounded etc and the biggest part was ” you are banned from Jorma Kaukonen for two weeks!!!” they knew how to get me.
I waited that night of the two week ..end until 12:08 and played your music only to hear banging down the stairs by an irate mother….What is this??
Mom the two weeks are up …all she could do was laugh
I also remember that presentation to Emerson High School what 1978 presenting Jorma Kaukonen. sure you know back then NO internet it was a true challenge…even discovered an interest in Speed skating…I had my friends all writing on high schoo black boards ..lets get out of here and go speed skating with Jorma.ha
Now I wonder if you realized that not only are you in the hall of fame but also had many people that believed so much in your talents
As time passed and I grew up ..I was at our beach house and you were at the Stone Pony..i gathered the crowds in the house ..but something wasn’t right I just looked at you and Jack C and said God does the world know their talents.. Do they know their talents …I was just sad as the rest of all were drinking and singing and yet it wasn’t right..NOw here you are…with your wonderful wife…( I ran to the computer this evening just to look you all up and the ranch after I heard this beautiful news…of your life now) Here you are now teaching the talent to so many so many …Perhaps you must be like…who is this ..but truth that I heard this ..means the world and also shows how changing life a bit and our ways and faith can just change everything.
And you look better than you ever did.. it is from the inside..Even my daughter Elizabeth saw the ranch and you and Vanessa saying ” how nice mom and his wife is so sweet.”
Today I you were to ask anyone from my younger years about Brenda and her absolute devotion to Jorma and Hot Tuna would say OH goodness don’t mention it she will just go off on this tangent of his talent.
I shared with Elizabeth that she could play just like Papa John goodness could he just play…again music taking you to places that never hurt only touch your heart.
I have never answered a blog or whatever this internet stuff is that somehow takes away from just saying thank you …but tonight I just had to say with decades of history I found Quah on line and sang as though it was yesterday never missing a word I guess when you are a teenager and sing it millions of times somehow it sinks and Water song….first time I heard it I was riding in a volkswagon along the jersey shore line and all I could think as I looked to the sun coming up and the clear blue waves…How perfect is this song…Water song
I am not sure in the budget for this summer …but I hope it would be OK for a visit…
I never imagined ever having the chance to see you play acoustic..but to see the videos of you and your wife and friends ..you seem so very nice and so very talented which the world can now see and learn from. Why I am going on and on is that ..I loved the acoustic just did and the talent but I didn’t understand the craziness of it all in concerts ..and thought how sad Well someone heard me..
Truth..I had my period of nonsense big time..and it was so nice to see your ranch is alcohol and drug free..and looking like you are having one heck of a great time.
I never could understand the alcohol drunk alougues I was dying inside ..and somehow as you shared..after that your faith came into play God was always there..truth it was the quiet of one kind spiritually sound women that didn’t talk about her faith just lived it ..that quietly helped me to do the work in some peace and quiet and fear and hard work ..
Now I get to write to Jorma Kaukonen and family ( your daughter is adorable!!)
all because I went to Piermont NY and learned you are doing what you are meant to be doing..then I saw..you were across the river in Croton ..
The man at the reataurant also went to your school in Ohio ..loved it ..and based upon the way things have been going for me lately just life too fast ..illnesses etc I went for dinner only to be touched and moved with a miracle
Blessings to you and your family Jorma ( Gosh if you ever ..told me years ago I would be writing to you..and even if you don’t get this or read this…well I thank God you are so very well Thank God.. oh yes on that note….about God ..well as a catholic/Christian do you know how many times I have sought out the Jewish Faith..and so many times I ask God why is it that I just seem to have Jewish friends and just feel so much warmer around them…I sometimes question that or observe that…a warmth a feeling of God;s presence so I am also so very happy for you and Vanessa with your faith nice.. ha once I made a Seder for an old boyfriend who was Jewish..and went to a temple to pick up a ..yama.. can’t spell that.. well the Rabbi gave me one and I said ..Rabbi how much is this?? he said oh no dear it is free ..this is not the Catholic church..ha ha I just roared)
Oh and one more funny ..I was in the hospital for surgery at 17 a big to do..so I bought my guitar and the picture from Quah…(am I spelling this right) Ha I had my priorities and I was going to be in for quite some time. Well the nurses from St Vincents all stated ” oh my goodness is that your boyfriend so cute blah blah blah”” I stated ” no my boyfriend Is Tom the person behind you..that is Jorma Kaukonen he is one of the greatest guitar players in the world”
And now Jorma with what you have done with your life…know that you are
Thank you for making this day so inspiring you made such a difference ..I am sure you know…
Best close now…(darn that I missed your concert..)
We send many blessings…much love to you and your family Jorma…(another miracle ..I for the first time proudly shared Hot Tuna and Jorma K with my daughter
oh one more ridiculous thing…liking Hot Tuna also a dating leverage ha I would hear some of the idiots I dated at the shore state..” Geee Brenda is wonderful ..pretty…smart ..funny ..professional..she only drinks beer and SHE LIKES HOT TUNA>>>” HA WELL NOW I am older…drink tea and diet coke with lime and now now can listen to Jorma K and he is truly live..and can’t wait to share all your good news ..as if it isn’t shared already but I will share it and I guess water song and quah will be non stop in the house for the next month while I clean..ha thanks
    Will I ever end this
OK I sound like I am just silly now dont’ I
Hope we can get to your ranch that would be another miracle
Thank you for making such a difference
    Brenda Sheehy
ps I am not proofing this .hoping it doesn’t come out much like a psychedelic version of War and Peace
    Peace

      Wow Brenda…

Life is a funny old dog isn’t it. Like they say, the ways are many, the =
path is one. In a normal world I would, at the very least, be a =
Grandfather. In this one, I have an almost seven year old daughter and =
and almost 15 year old son who lives with his Mom in Virginia. Life is =
good to me… treats me better than I deserve. I’m still learning, still =
teaching and really digging being a husband and a father. I can’t =
imagine you ever being in Southeast Ohio, but if you are… stop by and =
      say Hey at the Ranch.

Be well sister… and thanks for the note. It was much more interesting =
      that War And Peace.

I just got over shingles and remember going to visit my Grandfather where he was born, at the hospital, They were speculating he was going to pass and brought me with them. I overcame fear of hospitals there that day when I saw him and felt so much love. Just stood by him and marveled at his brilliance. I loved him so much. I guess i am really blessed to have an anscestor I loved so so much. He survived shingles at 80 but passed at 84. He is buried with three generations of my anscestors in the same cemetary here where I live. Our first anscestor came to this country as the head of one of the first ships that came here. Got ship wrecked and somehow made it here. Google Powell. Love to all the grandpas out there., And happy Fathers day to a country that has created so many holidays to enjoy.
