The ride from Negril to Montego Bay

The ride from Negril to Montego Bay

Sunday Morning we were up bright and early and hopped on the little plane… to go to the big plane. Twelve minutes versus two hours… no point in arguing that.

Sunrise on the way to Montego Bay

Seventy five degrees in Columbus when we landed in the evening and a beautiful ride home to Hillside Farm. Thirty two degrees and snowing this morning, but you know what, I love it! I wouldn’t trade my farm for a sandy beach anywhere. Of course I don’t have to… I can enjoy the tropics and come home. Spring is here and the warm weather is not far away.

Heading to school to pick our daughter up from school. I’ll be Mr. Mom tonight with piano practice, homework and dinner. How good does it have to get?

    Jorma I just ran across your interpretation of Blue Prelude. Absolutely marvelous. I put your version right there with Patricia Barber.

    she sang the song so well;

    I’ll be your Tennessee lamb….”

    The best island-to-island air travel in the Carib is “The Bomba Charger” sea-plane:
    fly out of St Thomas to the BVI’s.
    The pilot manually cranks the landing gear.

    Several years ago the Wife and I visited Jamaica for the second time. The resort offered us a free plane ride instead of going to Negril by road. Our earlier road trip had been pretty hairy, so we tried the plane.
    At the Montego Bay airport we followed the pilot and copilot out onto the tarmac. They headed towrd a nice looking turboprop that seated about 14, but walked right past it. Then we went past four other planes, each smaller than the last.
    We finally saw our plane…it was smaller than the one in the photo! Totally clapped out, painted white by someone using a roller. Seriously.
    The flight was uneventful, much better than the road, although the plane felt severely overloaded with four of us aboard. When the engine stuttered the pilot turned around and said “No worries, mon. If it stops we just land on the beach!”
    Ya gotta love Jamaica.

    I always considered my children gifts from God. In my mind there is no higher calling then being someones father. Welcome home Jorma and family!

    Thanks for sharing;
