For us poor relations stranded in Blighty without the pecuniary assets to cross the pond – PLEASE make the Saturday show available by download / CD / DVD / whatever! This needs to be heard more widely. Alternatively – send me a CD-R (c/o HT) and I’ll deliver a comprehensive review in ‘Holding Together’ 54. Can hardly say fairer than that, Dynamic Duo…

      Hey Bill…

Ultimately and in the foreseeable future, the show will be available through the Hot Tuna iTunes gizmo… couldn’t tell you exactly when, but it will be there.

Loved the show at the Beacon Saturday. I was in the lower balcony looking down and I never saw any kind of scuffle or commotion in the first few rows. I have to admit to being mesmerized by the band, but I should have seen something. I’m sorry if someone got hurt.

FYI- the security guys came down our aisle before the show started and said pictures were ok if you turn off the flash. So, I can’t believe the guys down below got so carried away.

Anyway, what a fantastic show! You guys just get better with age. Fantastic set list as well! Tuna rocks!

Good health and happy holidays to all. Can’t wait for next year’s show. Gotta catch the acoustic show next year also, sorry I missed that.

Jud…shameful indeed…on the Beacon’s part. The staff shouldn’t have to resort to the aggressive belligerence you describe. But as Jorma says, they do things their own way at the Beacon. I’ve been seeing shows there for years and while I’ve gotten some great photos from time to time in the past, in recent years it’s been made quite clear that photos are a no-no. So I opt to forgo pics at the Beacon and simply enjoy the show (which is why we are there anyway) and get photos at other gigs.

I hope you heal up quickly and have another (non-Beacon) opportunity to get pics (in accordance with Jorma’s stated policy).

Jorma…thanks to you and the gang for a fun acoustic show Friday…nice way to tee up the weekend. Safe travels and happy holidays starting tomorrow.

The hot tuna tradition means more to me than I could ever express. So I wanted to be sure I wished you all a Happy Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Christmas and New Year as I don’t think I will be attending anymore shows this year. May You all have peace, health and happiness, cherish the people in your life, till I see you all again.

Jud I am so sorry to hear about your being beaten at the Beacon Hot Tuna show this past Saturday night. Your story is reminiscent of the security thugs that prowled the aisles of the old Capitol Theatre and the Meadowlands back in the 70s and 80s . I am reminded of a young man, Adam Katz; that left his home to see a Grateful Dead show at the Byrne Arena in the early 80s . He never made it home from that show. But Jud I cannot believe that Jorma or any member of the band saw what happened to you that night. If they had I know in my heart something would have been done . Gods speed in your recovery Jud and for the safety and well being of future concert goers please don’t let the matter just go away. If anyone saw the incident that took place please contact Jud You could be next…..

Ok. First up, THANK YOU; WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE YOU.
I have been around the music since 1971 as a spectator, crew member (security for Academy and Capitol) and over all fan. The Beacon show brought together what makes you guys great: Stellar songs, homage to rock and blues, tremendous performances, please accept my bows : ) It doesn’t get any better.
As for Larry and Theresa, DITTO.
    Love from Brooklyn crew.

Thank You for such a magical weekend….On friday’s show, Diana and I from Metropolitan Talent ushered the show….NYC fans are the best, aren’t they???? I didn’t cry or anything, tho my lower lip was trembling on some of my old favorites….Saturday’s show was fun nite, no work, and I can’t remember the last time I danced so much, maybe the last time you were in town????….I know how much work goes into making a weekend like this happen, and I want to thank everyone who made this possible….Especially the Hot Tuna gang, you guys are the best….See you next year….

Great weekend of shows! I Have seen a lot of Calif shows, but nothing beats the energy of a NYC crowd! The acoustic show was amazing, and from the minute you guys took the stage on Friday, it was high energy, lots of smiles and lots of moments that gave me “goose bumps” A very amazing show. The Beacon show did not disappoint as well, I loved Theresa’s voice on Sugaree and Somebody to Love. i was able to see some old friends and met some new ones. I would like to thank you and Jack for a fantastic Tuna weekend in NYC!!!

I agree with Joey that Barroom Crystal Ball was just superb. Jormas vocals were so filled with passion but at the same time his picking was so delicate that it just pulled me into the song.Skooter as always was rock solid and Jack must have had his track shoes on what with all the running around he did on Saturday night. Hot Tuna most certainly nailed it at the Beacon and Fridays performance was solid as well. I would say that it can’t get any better then Saturday night but of course I know better.

    I love Hot Tuna !

    Dear Jorma,

Came home to snow, but all I can say is Thank You once again for an outstanding weekend of music and keeping the Beacon/Thanksgiving tradition alive. It’s always great to have family and good friends around to help celebrate it also, I had a childhood friend fly in from Colorado for the show to surprise me who I hadn’t seen in twenty five years, great times indeed. Larry and Theresa are always a special treat, man can she sing…..Talking with you and Jack after the show was just the icing on the cake. All that comes to mind is that the entire weekend was “Firmer than Firm”..lol..
Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving, we all have so much to be thankful for.
    Take care and safe travels
Looking forward to the show on Friday

Thanks so much for sharing so much with us in NYC this past weekend.
The shows were superb! I Know You Rider was a clear highlight from the acoustic show. The electric performance was truly electric. Jack was as animated as I’ve seen him and Jorma’s guitar playing was as inspired as I’ve seen him play electric in years. Many thanks and do come ’round again soon.

BTW your daughter has grown so much; almost didn’t recognize her

Yup that was me in row A getting mugged and thrown to the ground by three, then four, five of The Beacon’s Finest during set 1 after taking your picture at The Beacon. Two cracked ribs and a woozy head. Hell, I deserved it. I hadn’t opted for the VIP package. At age 57, being knocked silly right in front of your face. I know you saw it. Shameful. Simply shameful for not speaking up.

    • Comment made on November 27, 2013 by Jorma

Jud… I saw nothing… If I had, I would have spoken up. I don’t wear my glasses on stage and I never, I said never get eye contact with the audience. Everything is a comfortable impressionistic painting to me. When I play in front of people, my only thought is the music. So whatever you thought you knew, you didn’t. I’m sorry for whatever happened to you. There is no excuse for that kind of response. That said, the Beacon is union and they do things their own way.

Thanks for two outstanding shows. When the weather turns cold in NYC, we know Hot Tuna is on the menu. This year delivered again — and then some. With all respect to the great Tuna players of the past, this might be my favorite lineup. The talents of Larry and Teresa, in addition to Skoota and Barry, really complement Jorma and Jack. Yeah, this might be my dream team. Can’t wait for next year! Happy Thanksgiving!

Holy Smokes – Hot Tuna, the hottest band in the US.(maybe the world) just rocked NYC. They were amazing – Jack’s solo at the beginning and the end of the show was a sign of things to come. New and old Tuna and Somebody To Love!
What a show. I Love you guys!!!

Great show as always guys! Last night was a real blast. I was there with my friend T.C. We’ve been coming to your shows at the Beacon since 1975 (first time for me). T.C. saw you guys play at BananaFish Garden (the old 46th st movie house) in Brooklyn back in 1974.
Yeah, we’ve been around a while.
My wife came last night too. Only her second time around for you guys (first time was at the State Theater in NJ back in Jul), but she’s a fan now too.
Also, I just wanted to give a big thumbs up on the regular addition of Larry and Teresa to the Tuna line-up the last few years. They’re absolutely great.
Well, til next year guys, take care and be well!

Another great Hot Tuna Thanksgiving. I had my wife, daughter and her boyfriend, with me at the Beacon as well this year. Very special. Been so long since that ’75 Academy late show that started it all for me. Besides “Thank you” I have just 2 more things to say. 1- LOUDER and 2- How ’bout releasing them old tapes?

The Beacon show left me breathless. It started hot, and continued to gain momentum through the second set. “Barroom Crystal Ball” has taken on a new and deeper feel over the past couple years.
With the first rumbling of Jacks’ Bass on “Somebody to Love”, the show went up to another level. Theresa really nailed the vocals on that.
I thought “Rock me Baby” well…rocked. There was the intro lead guitar lick, which was spooky good, and then the lead trading between Larry & Jorma which is a lot of fun to watch-and hear. Scoota was fabulous all night. I could go on & on, but to just coin a phrase…
    That’s what I’m talkin’ bout!
Thank you Jack, Jorma, Barry, Scoota, Larry, Theresa, and the crews that keep the magic flowing.
I can’t get enough, I’m goin’ to Norwalk.
    Responsibilities be damned.
    Love & safe travels, Joey

How can you guys top this weekend next year to celebrate the younger member of Tuna turning 70?
Jack sings and play guitar on a song with Jorma on Bass?
    Peace

Thank you for an outstanding weekend.
