OK… the weekend that was is long gone and the weekend to come is almost here…Yeah, I’m a day late and a dollar short… but better late than never! Sitting here at the dealer (0819) getting my truck serviced… yeah, time to update the site a little.
Rusty Smith and Jerron 'Blind Boy' Paxton cut a rug
So, last weekend at the Fur Peace Ranch we hosted Larry Campbell, the Rev. Robert Jones and myself. Larry and I had just finished recording my new CD and he stayed on to teach a class and to be joined by the lovely Teresa Williams to play a fabulous set Saturday night before Jerron ‘Blind Boy’ Paxton went on. Now, as if the musical excellence that Larry Campbell and Rev. Jones brought to the Ranch were not enough… Jerron Paxton just knocked our socks off.
During the sound check, our worthy producer of ‘Live At The Fur Peace Ranch,’ Rusty Smith (from WOUB) took a break from setting up mikes to grab a fiddle and start sawing on the strings. Loved it!
Larry and Teresa, live and in person backstage at the Fur Peace Station
Jerron Paxton’s show was something I can hardly wait to see again… There is nothing like being witness to living artistic tradition. Sunday night, Larry and Teresa and I played for about a half an hour for the campers and then Rev. Jones came out and played another unbelievable set. What an unbelievable weekend of music and fellowship.
Fall colors wrap HIllside Farm in glory!
Monday on the way back to Hillside Farm, the Fall foliage just reminded me how great it is to be alive on a day like this.
Well, that’s about it for now. As always, I’m sure more will be revealed.

Me and a bunch of friends are looking forward to seeing you Friday night at University of Miami. Delighted that my Festival Miami colleagues took me up on the suggestion to book you. Also hope we might hear a new tune or two.
Saw Wavy Gravy last night in NYC and had an incredibly wonderful time. Catch him if you can

Looking forward to the Jorma / Barry show this coming Thursday in Clearwater Florida. How many new songs will we get to hear Jorma?
You should be peaking there in SE Ohio – not yet here on LI. Nice pole barn! And I’m counting down to the Beacon also – can’t wait.
Thanx again Jorma et al. Your blog is how I reconnect and keeps me inspired. I’m looking forward to the Beacon!!
That’s correct, Larry’s album is Rooftops (Treasure Records 2005). I think the song he played is Blind Mary by Turlough O’Carolan. Give your ears a treat and your heart a lift!
@Greg Martelli
I think Larry said the Album is called “Rooftops”…..
Yeh…The Saturday night show was outstanding!! I am STILL feeling the warmth of the Fur Peace afterglow from everything that happened this past weekend.
I can’t wait for work to be over today so I can get home and pick up my geetar and just PLAY for a couple of days
That is a great shot of Larry and Theresa. It reminds me of seeing them in Jamaica…they were coming back from a swim, clearly in the same space, happy and relaxed, walking along holding hands like young lovebirds…so refreshing to witness, as also shown in this photo.
Great musical event at the ranch and fine renditions of Americana roots music.
As always John and Vanessa do a wonderful job as hosts .
On the archival side what was the name of the melodic Celtic solo piece that Larry played as an instrumental soloist . He credited an album that he did 5-7 years ago as its musical derivative , any idea on the name of the instrumental recording and how we could purchase it.
Keep your lamps.
Greg
I too was lucky enough to be at the FPR for all the fine tunes and fellowship. I met so many great folks and got a chance to play some harp with Rev. An honor for sure! Thanks Jorma, Vanessa and Hurl for all your warmth and kindness.
Sounds like a great weekend. And what a great shot of Larry and Teresa! Jorma, I hope you let them talk you into a repeat visit to Ramble on the Island…..!
So great to have been part of the past weekend at FPR; wonderful to share all that musical friendship and hear all that amazingly excellent music. I feel blessed to be part of the FPR community. Thanks Jorma, and thanks everyone who was at the ranch this past weekend!
@johno
Yes…yes it was! I was there, and feel sooooooooooo blessed that I was able to attend this past weekend.
Music, fellowship, fine dining, and a truly spiritual vibe that I will never, ever forget
wow! Only at Da Ranch!!
Jack’s 70th B’Day Bash @ Beacon Theatre NYC is sold out!
I see there is an open date Dec. 12th. Any chance the boyz will do another electric show then?
I have my fingers crossed!
Hint: The Wellmont Theater in Montclair, NJ isn’t booked yet for Dec 12th.
Hey Seth, how about booking it?

Sounds to me like there was a ‘Preaching on that Old Campground’ kinda feeling at the Ranch this weekend.
