Well, a two set night for us before we return to the Leon Russel/Hot Tuna tour. The State Theater is a beautiful venue and it’s been too long since we’ve been here. It was warm enough so the weather only brought us rain. We’ll take it. Here is our set list:

yeah getting back to ginnygate i haven,t heard complaints like that since when tuna broke up in the 70s and jorma was playing solo with backing band and not playing tuna tunes . a lot of bummed patrons but after a few shows he threw in a pair of airplane tunes, but in time vital parts came along and save the day. But playing first and not makeing ticket holders aware if that is not a plus. people plan on getting there late knowing tuna plays after opening act. gregg

Loved the Jan. 11 show in State College.
From the fun and quirky tunes like Bar-b-que King and The Terrible Operation to the old-timey Nobody Loves You and Candyman to the instrumentals, I was digging it all, but this night I was really touched by More than My Old Guitar and Things that Might Have Been. Those tunes have such heart–and it takes a delicate touch to deliver that kind of sentiment without seeming maudlin. Well, that’s how it seemed to me.

Give some credit to Vanessa, who maybe had an ESP-ish message from johno and Mrs. johno; before Jorma left to go out on this tour.
When Jorma was asleep, Vanessa whispered in his ear:

At the long island I was there w/ my wife who only likes acoustic HT(electric hurts her ears). It was getting near the end of the show and I was thinking about my wifes fav song and if they were gonna play it or not. Odds are they weren’t going to. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t on the play list. All of a sudden someone calls out Genesis – then 2-3 more people say the same thing – and Jorma goes right into Genesis, my wifes favorite song. It was definitely mental telepathy. My wife was ecstatic and so was I. Thanks Jorma you made my night.
