The second weekend of 2014 at the Fur Peace Ranch featured Marjorie Thompson, David Wolff and myself tag teaming 18 eager guitarists… and what a time we had. I thoroughly enjoyed this class and we’re definitely doing it again next year.

The sold out concert Saturday night was in the person of the Desert Rose Band. That would be Chris Hillman, Herb Pederson, and john Jorgenson. Now I’ve known Chris and Herb for a while but this was the first that I not only got to hear John Jorgenson play live, but I got to sit in with the band.

Chris Hillman – one guy I’ve always wanted to see or take a class from out your way.

Yes indeed, Happy Birthday Jack! Mr.Casady deserves all the love his fans can muster.
In early ’77 I was in LA, riding down the Blvd, looked up and saw on the Starwood billboard “HotTunaHotTunaHotTuna”. Just like that. I was an HT newcomer, at the time it was the smallest venue I had seen the band. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Between songs, someone yelled “JACK, YOU’RE THE BEST”! As most reading this will agree, he definitely is.
Some might also remember the old T-Shirt that read “Jorma Leads, Jack Dominates”.
Without Jack Casady, there is no Hot Tuna.
I wlll never get enough of that rumbling, melodic, intricate Bass which is the soundtrack of my life!
Long Live Jack & Jorma. HFT!

Jorma – is there any way for us devoted fans can send birthday greetings to Jack – after all the Big 7-0. I went over to his website and there is no way to send one. I know he lives in Los Angeles and he is the best player in entire world. Maybe if I send a card to: Mr. Jack Casady, Los Angeles, CA it may get there. Any way you can have a post so we can wish Jack birthday greetings. Any ideas?

ohn Jorgenson is one of the finest “Django” style guitar players I have ever seen play. And to top it off, the guy is a mean clarinet player! His CD Franco-American Swing is superb and covers 2 Reinhardt/Grappelli classics from their “Hot Club” days.

Desert Rose Band… one of the coolest bands around. I didn’t know they are back together. Can’t wait to hear that on WOUB.
    Cheers,
    Sven
