The Big Guy relaxes
Friday morning, Maverick relaxed for a bit with me as I got ready to head out to the Fur Peace Ranch for the electric guitar weekend with GE Smith. I had a superb bunch of students and I just hope they had as much fun as did. A truly fine bunch of players. Good times all around.
Saturday night GE Smith and I played to a sold out crowd at the Fur Peace Station. I did an hour set and here it is:

The road home Sunday night
Now I’m looking forward to the 4th with the family…
Boom!
Dear Jorma
Some princely hands, last night, handed over to me a small parcel of value fresh from the State of the States, and guess, amongst its miraculous contents pops out of the box, so splendidly advertised by Barry Mitterhoff inside the Tuna concert in Humboldt, ‘Jorma’s Lip Smackin’ Lip Balm’, well I have my lips whispering to me night & day words of wisdom and songs like never before.
Ever so grateful Jorma!
Steady As She Goes
Some tremendously epic songs went through the years ‘65/’75, one of those still is the Byrd’s magnificent ‘Eight Miles High’ so magically played on stage at the Fur Peace Station, and watchable on Fur Peace Ranch TV. Great stuff Jorma!
Rock forth the 4th Jorma!
Steady As She Goes
Great looking set list Jorma. Sounds like a great time was had by all. Happy 4th to you and yours and I will see you on the 27th.
Rock the 4th Jorma!
Happy 238th Tuna Nation.
oh yeah, and Happy 4th of July to you and yours…please be safe out there, there will never be another Jerry Garcia, and we love your sound just the way it is so try not to lose any digits out there…and the same to all who read up here, the celebration of freedom is not worth losing fingers, eyes, or even your life, so be careful, be safe, and above all else….be free!!!!!
the Drinking Gourd was particularly nice that night…seeing you and GE play together is about as good as it gets too…all in all it was a wonderful night with two class act people I am glad to know…My daughter is a HUGE GE Smith fan…she saw him a couple years ago and that was the show that changed her, she hasn’t been the same since, and it’s GE’s fault…seeing him solo acoustic and with Jorma was like heaven on earth for my child (and I was VERY happy about it too) but meeting up with you two after the show really kicked things up a notch…she is over the moon about having GE and JK signed on her guitar and pictures to boot…thanks for putting up with us Jorma…it means the world to us, and thank you for sharing your life with us, I am honored to call you a friend
Oh yeh!!
Well…..Boom Boom Boom Boom !!
Have a great 4th Jorma!! (and, you may need to cover Maverick’s ears during the final 4th festivities…jus’ sayin’)
Brett
Sounds like a fun weekend. I love seeing “Follow the Drinking Gourd” on your set list Jorma.
Tell George I miss seeing him at Perry St.
Happy Independence Day!
and that setlist is pretty darn cool as well…you guys are so lucky to have Jorma as a neighbor.
Hey there jorma. Happy 4th to you , tuna, and the tuna fans ……
Dear Jorma,
Love, love, love the pic of Maverick!! Does the name Maverick have any
connotations back to your old Woodstock days?
Happy 4th to you and your family
Nope Cyndy… Maverick came from the rescue joint in Kentucky so named… and an apt name it is.
That ‘rode home’ photo Jorma is absolutely beautiful.
