This morning we head down to Atlanta and the Variety Playhouse. This is going to be a long day for both bands. No hotel in Atlanta… drive after show to Orlando, Florida and Plaza Live.
Onward…
These days, the price of doing a credit check, is billed at $150.!
At least, that’s what RE rental agents claim.
The price of buying a co-op or condo apartment in NYC, is an additional $500-$1,000 for submitting a: “package” to the Board.
The package contains ALL of your personal financial info, including:
your IRS returns for the past 6 years, your past 6 months of banking statements,
a letter from your previous landlord(or co-op Board) and several “letters of recommendation” from your employers AND personal “reference” letters from “personal friends”.
I have experienced this, several times over the years/decades in which I purchased a co-op or condo apartment in NYC. I paid ALL-Cash, each and every time.
Needless to say, my “employer” reference letters were from the same group of people; who are also my personal friends. (I’m self-employed.)
One letter opened with:
“WHO THE F–K ARE YOU?”
You can guess WHO that letter came from.
(I’ve never been turned-down/denied from purchasing a NYC apartment.)

@jim hitchcock
He’s not my personal choice, yet he’s the POTUS.
Of course I don’t wish any harm to come to him.
But, what could I have done, while viewing a threat such as that, while watching it in the USA, on live t.v.? The potential for disaster was obvious to any person who saw it and had a clue. Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters?!@John B
Reminds me of a quip my cousin made when rented an apartment for a short while when I first moved to Carson City. I paid $15 for a background check. His take:
“Yeah, they probably use it to buy a bottle of Jack, take a couple of snorts, rub their chins while they contemplate for a few seconds, then say ‘yeah, I think he’ll be alright’ “.
SCary indeed Barb. Kinda makes you wonder doesn’t it? Like Crosby says” What are their names; the ones who really run this land……….” If anything happens to POTUS it’s marshall law and a marshall law we may never come out of. Keep him in our prayers weather you agree with him or not.
@jim hitchcock
But, seriously: The Leader of The Free World, Commander-In-Chief, President of the United States has a ton of FBI and CIA there, at that memorial service.
Not one of them looked at that fake sign-language guy and said:
“Hey, WTF?!! Get him off the stage, he’s within arms reach of the POTUS!!!”
LOL!!!@jim hitchcock
Do you remember Fred Ward practicing Tai Chi in Remo Williams: The Adventure Continues? 🙂
How do you think that fake sign-language guy, would have done the signing for:
“a 55-57 T Bird” ? @jim hitchcock
Great show at the Variety Playhouse!
Barry would own Trial by Fire on the banjo if given the chance…
@jim hitchcock
I think you’re right
In this case it’s shorthand for a ’55-’57 T Bird 🙂
I’m an unofficial interpreter, here.
(No comparison to that guy who stood next to President Obama and others, while they spoke at Mr. Mandela’s memorial service. I was watching it, live on t.v. and
said: “WTF is that guy doing?! It sure isn’t sign-language!”
“Ariel” is Hebrew for “little bird”.@jim hitchcock
Little bird?

Hey Jorma, I hope we can get the temperature here in FL back up to our normal wintertime 70’s by Sunday. Look forward to seeing you in St. Pete, I work security at these shows at Vinoy Pk and usually in the backstage area. After 40+ years of enjoying your music, I hope I get the chance to say thank you in person.
Great article, Tom.

Very nice review from the Clog blog: http://clclt.com/theclog/archives/2014/01/15/live-review-hot-tuna-and-leon-russell-neighborhood-theatre-1142014
Vinoy Park is such a cool spot in St. Petersburg – turquoise and pink w/ palm trees and Hot Tuna – perfect. If you have time see the Dali Museum, it’s right there. Wish I was there.
Rock Them Slick Tonight Jorma!
Just found out through a good friend and a very talented singer in her own right, Denise Moore, who lives in the Tampa area, that you are playing the Vinoy Park venue this weekend. We had plans to be over that way and are thrilled that we get a chance to see you again, having recently been up to FPR for the Della Mae dinner and show. Hoping to hear your new song (In my dreams) again. Welcome to Florida!
Tom and Debbie Skinner
Dear Jorma,
Safe travels and enjoy the warmer weather.
Looking forward to hearing In My Dreams, hopefully soon.
Take Care

🙂
Travel safely and we’ll be looking forward to seeing you in Hot(Tuna)lanta tonight!!!
Last week you were in the middle of a polar vortex – this week you’re in sunny Florida – you got the life.
Looking forward to seeing you in Boca this Saturday! Many years ago you dedicated Water Song to someone near and dear to us that we lost — would love to hear it again. It’s all good — and I’m grateful that you’re still out there playing wonderful shows (I’ve been going for 42 years) and coming to see us in South Florida.

Dear Jorma,
Wonderful to see Zach joining the Tuna lineup! I am sure he will
make you proud, and be a wonderful addition !
See you soon,
