A happy Jack getting ready to leave Baltimore for Common Ground

We headed out from Ohio, got to Baltimore, picked Jack Casady and Phil Jacobs up and met Barry Mitterhoff over in Westminster at Common Ground. Before our set I got a chance to catch Mary Flower’s set.

Thanks for coming to Westminster MD. My daughter and I both loved your show. She has been teaching herself the acoustic guitar this year and thought your playing was amazing. I am a bass guy – Jack has always been one of my idols. Have a great tour and thanks for keeping the music going all these years. Come back to Westminster sometime. We’ll both be there!

Just got home from Space in Evanston. The short of it – Fucking Hot Tuna. The lads played from 7:30 until a little after 10:15.

Hope to get time to put the long of it up tomorrow. I really think this was a special performance, for a number of reasons, not the least of which was a lot of kibitzing. It just seemed to be a cut above other shows I’ve seen. Learned about a new tea – “Jack Cassidy Tea, Double Dose.”

I think I’m going to need a few cups of that before heading to the coal mines bright and early tomorrow morning.

Jack & Jorma, you guys have been carrying that torch for a long time, often under-appreciated. It warms my heart that you two, together, receive a well deserved, permanent acknowledgment of your integral contribution to the incredible legacy of American music.
Sleep well knowing that you’re passing it on to the next generation to carry as well.
Thank you, as always, for being here.
    Your friend, Joey

It was a pleasure to meet you and it was a fine laid back show. I hope the rest of the tour is as nice.
