Cool building in Milwaukee
So we pulled into Milwaukee on a ‘day off,’ aka ‘travel day,’ and had time for some good food and a nice walk.

We were here to play the extremely cool Pabst Theater.

The Pabst is one of those extremely cool beautifully restored and maintained historic theaters that dot this great country of ours.
Not bad eh?
Not only was it a great place to play, but the catering was out of this world. Now we need to thank Chef Lou Lou and her gang for the unbelievable and classy feed they fixed for us. Check this desert out.

I saw Zachary and tuna do been so long at the birchmere in va this past January. If my memory serves me I believe jorma said that this was the first time his son was playing on stage with tuna. I could be wrong; but …..

Awesome show at the Pabst! I loved how the band didn’t miss a beat when the alarm went off. I got a kick out of the Altamont comment after the song. Jack was absolutely on fire when he played his solos. The entire band was incredible, but there’s just something about Jack’s bass playing……
some great old songs you are bring back. So glad you get to play with your son. That must be an awesome feeling! Haven’t seen you guys since Mccabes back at the beginning of the year. I’m “Jonesing” for some Tuna. I will be attending Lockn this year with my brother and hope to catch your set.
A pleasure as always, Jorma – thanks for coming back to Iowa City to play for us. It was great to meet Zach as well; he seems like a nice young man – hope he’s enjoying life on the road with Dad for a spell!

Old Friends….”Sat on their park bench like Bookends”

it’s odd, or maybe it’s just me, but Water song in Milwaukee sounded better than Water song at Space on Tuesday. While I enjoyed it Tuesday, it sounded as if it was the first time I heard that song in Milwaukee. How is that possible? Sea Child sure brought back some memories of yesterday when we were young.
What song were you playing when the fire alarm went off? How many bands are so smokin’ hot they can set off the fire alarm? I guess that’s what results from from a fiery band with fiery fingers. Jorma, you looked bit nervous up there! (Did you notice not one fan left the theatre?) Barry and Jack just put their heads down and redoubled their efforts. The beeping sound and flashing lights seemed to inspire Barry.
Vicksburg stomp is one hell of a song! All three of you seemed to be having a real good time with that romp into blue grass. You could tell Barry was pumped. Will the ukelele make the next album?
The lead you play in Bar Room Crystal Ball is off the charts. i can’t think of any other way to describe it. How fortunate to hear it twice in one week performed live. Amongst the plethora of sounds that came out of that ‘more than and old guitar” that one sounded like it originated from Apollo’s lyre.
I think that was the song that two guys behind us had a very annoying conversation going for the whole song. My sister turned around and asked them to put a lid on it, to no avail. A few minutes later she told them in no uncertain terms to “Shut Up,” in a very agitated voice. I thought to myself, this is weird, first the fire alarm and now I’m going to be getting into a brawl in the back of Pabst theatre at a Tuna concert. We relocated a few rows up, and thankfully enjoyed the rest of the show.
Candy Man sounded so good. I wish I knew what that song was about. I always thought the one line was “running to the corner get the babies in bed,” not get the babies some beer.” And what’s a salted dog? Ah what the hell, it’s just fun to sing, eh?! Not everything in life has to have a meaning, does it?
