Mmmm... and Kosher too!

So my son Zach was with us for his Spring Break and he was able to join us for the family Seder at Hillel Of Ohio University.

It was a sweet evening… and yes, I had seconds of gefilte fish.

That’s how the week started out. Now in the beginning of the week, it was so cold, we laughingly called it, ‘Winter Break.’ But then, fortunately it warmed up.

Yeah, Zach and I got a couple of great motorcycle rides in and things were looking up. We did some riding, watched some movies and we even rode our bikes to the hospital while the Doctors took a look inside me to make sure everything was as it should be… and the good news is… that it was!

Friday was benefit for the Gathering Place here in Athens, Ohio. Check out the website and see what we’re up to. A bunch of folks played including Laura Nadeau and myself and a band with some folks from the Gathering Place.

It was such a blessing for me to have both my kids there to not only hear me play but Izze was one of the youth puppeteers. Cool beans!

I’ve been involved in some really worthy benefits lately, and this one is right up near the top!

My son went home yesterday to have Easter with his Mom and I took Izze over to my sister-in-law Ginger’s place to have an Easer egg hunt with the cousins.

Yes, You were happy to read my comment and post yours, in return.

Steve is also a fan of both Jorma and Ray (maybe even Ronnie Lane) and Steve was in, for it.

Steve’s comment was indeed, a nice reference to Ray Davies’ songs; bringing on nostalgia.

I know that Jorma doesn’t have any ill-will towards Ronnie Lane nor British musicians. Jorma’s song-writing brings its own form of nostalgia, for his songs
    and musical influences.

It’s all good, as it should be.

I don’t know why “richard” doesn’t like me, as I’m not aware of ever meeting him in person, nor having any communication with him ; other than here on Jorma’s blog-comments section.

When I arrived in Japan with Ray, also years ago, the fans gathered:
cheering and taking photos. They then serenaded Ray with a rousing group rendition of:
    “Picture Book”.@jim hitchcock

    Thanks, Steve.
It was just a mention of the continuum of how music fans in Japan have such love for musicians; from all Countries of the world.
Arriving in Japan is a big celebration and those fans love to show their love.@Steve Levenson

    Well, Richard:
A long time ago, back in the late 1980’s:
Ronnie Lane was (literally) on his “last legs”. It was a long and difficult journey for him to travel from Austin Texas to Japan. His arrival there was met with so much excitement from his fans in Japan. Ronnie was so delighted and surprised, so was I.
It was back in the days , before the World-Wide-Web ,and only a local D.J from a radio station in Tokyo, knew of our travel plans. He announced it during his show and the Ronnie Lane fans came out and gave him a lovely welcome.

Why does my memory of Ronnie’s pleasure upon arriving in Japan, and the mention of the ardent Japanese music fans there to greet him; annoy you so much?

Details? We love Ray. Somehow he makes me feel nostalgic for something I’ve never experienced.

On to Japan, where the music fans greet arriving musicians at the airport with roses and cheers of excitement!

I think it is based on the world-wide reporting (long before the World-Wide-Web), originating with The Beatles’ media coverage.

“A long time ago, long time ago”: “Picture Book”! (“Jim H.”, you know what I’m talking about.)
It was the last and most satisfied journey for Ronnie Lane. Those fans really rolled out the red-carpet for him.

    Enjoy it, Jorma-san!

Mazel tov, Jorma. When first I saw you and Jack play – nearly forty years ago – I was far too young to recognize the overarching importance of family in our lives. Back then I was far too focused on having a good seat at The Academy/Palladium here in New York. But now as I watch my two daughters grow, and as I savor the gift of my marriage, I think I more readily recognize what really matters. And as much as I still love seeing a long Tuna set from great seats (now at The Beacon, instead), I understand what it means when people talk about the importance of family.

Here’s to you and Vanessa and Zach and Israel. And to everyone in your family, including your legion of adoring fans. Here’s to freedom, and to family. Here’s to health and happiness. At this very special time of year, when holidays converge and there’s the opportunity for spiritual richness for all, may peace be with all of us.

All the best to you, Jorma. Next year in Jerusalem. (With a stop on Broadway later this year, I hope!)

    Cheers!

No mention of Genesis in the Transcendence soundtrack? I was shocked, but pleasantly surprised that it featured so prominently. Keep up the great work!
