We pulled into the stretch last night and finished the tracks on my new project… Tomorrow camp at the Ranch begins so I thought I’d just post some closing shots.

Jorma's guitars, ready for work...
On my left is my old Gibson J-50. I learned to fingerpick on this guitar… Embryonic Journey, the first Hot Tuna album, Quah… and more… this instrument. Still sounds and plays great. On the right, is the Jorma Kaukonen Martin M-30 #1. The story of my life continues…

Larry's steel guitar station

Larry does an overdub...
Here Larry is playing my Rickenbacker Tuxedo 6 string steel… through the Premier Amp David Bromberg thoughtfully gave me. Thanks David!

Beloved gear...
Here you see my Fender reverb tank, the old Ampeg B-15 and the Premier Amp.

Myron's guitar boat
You can see my new Fender Jazzmaster sort of in the foreground… yeah…

Jorma's amp heaven
Two Fender Supers… a ’61 and a ’62. My ’67 Deluxe and a ’63 Ampeg Reverb-o-Rocket. Also a Baby Blue and a Fishman.
All done… Justin headed back to Red Hook and Larry and Teresa are here for the Rev. Gary Davis weekend at the Fur Peace Ranch.
Gotta get some sleep… more will be revealed!
@Jorma
Thought this note might give a smile. My first guitar was bought at a rummage for $15.00. Some unknown brand but what sealed the deal was it came with an instruction booklet on how to play. I knew nothing about guitars but I tried mightily and practiced for hours/months. Although I have big strong hands it was very difficult for me to keep in time. It was only after a new friend stopped by did I find the source of the problem. The neck was so warped that the strings were about a half inch or more off the frets. I had no way of knowing. Should have asked. Jingle Bells never sounded so awful as when I “played” my guitar.
And you still use it – how much did you pay for it?

There Is no red hook up Kingston way mon – only mountains. My guess is Brooklyn.
My guess is up by Kingston but Black 47 and the Lost Tribe of Donegal were terrific at Rock’s in Red Hook Brooklyn the other night.

It was playing @ the IFC down in the village but it was only thru Oct 2 or 3rd. I would’ve liked to see it as well.
@cyndy consentino
Cyndy, do you know where one can see the Gary Davis movie?
In NYC?
Fender Jazzmaster?!? Really f’ ing cool Jorma. What year is that j-50?
The J-50 is a 1958. I bought it new from Pop’s Music Store in Dayton, Ohio in 1960.
It’s a gem…
With ya there, chuck. Much as guitars have their own personality, so do the old amps.
Iron on :), johno
Nothing beats old school amps.
That’s awesome..
Lot’s of great music has come out of that Gibson..and I’m sure alot more will be heard.
Just wonderin if there is going to be a release date announced.
Take care
Hogan
🙂
What I meant to say was – to all you people that remember ‘peaking’ – touché.
Dear Jorma,
Gear envy is right! Love Myron’s guitar boat!
Have you see the Rev Gary Davis movie “Harlem Street Singer”?
I saw it a few weeks ago in NYC. It was really good!
You were in it 😉
Best,
Cyndy
Myron’s guitar boat put a smile on my face.
How are the leaves in SE Ohio – peaking yet? I haven’t used that phrase in over 30 years – for you guys that don’t know what I’m talking about – forget it. You wouldn’t get it anyway.
Jorma do you think the new project will be out by Hanukkah? I want to be able to drop sufficient hints so my wife knows what to get me.
Get on the Boat!! Myron’s Guitar Boat! I love it.
You are a fortunate man in many ways. I must confess I have a bit of gear envy after reading this post, but I am thankful you have the tools to make more beautiful music for the rest of us!
Thanks for sharing some inside photos of the Fur Peace Sessions. I bet you all are flying pretty high from the creative juices flowing…good on you! I look forward to hear the album.
