A beautiful day today with chances that the mountains of snow will start to melt.
Good times…
@William
That’s the guy, thanks William.
Jorma, thanks for coming out to Newton. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the end of this brutal winter. It has been about 25 years since I last got a chance to see you perform. You certainly put my soul at ease and a big smile on my face. I ran in to you (literally) once, back in the early eighties at the side door of the Capital Theatre while running down the street to get my car after a show. Sorry if I startled you. Although you didn’t seem to mind at all judging by the smile on your face. Also, back in the summer of ’81 you did a show with Vital Parts at a club named El Grecco. It was on this traffic circle in Toms River, NJ. What a night, what memories. Hope you and Barry can make it back to my neck of the woods in the near future, you guys are like a blooming flower. Something to behold
@ Kevin – I’m guessing that was Stefan Grossman, a fine player himself, who moved to Sparta to run his music biz after returning from Italy (as I understand it).
Speaking of the Stanhope House, I saw JK there several times in mid 80’s…I distinctly recall a show performed with a Harley parked behind Jorma on stage. Have a pic somewhere…
Ah, the goodle days. A little different than last week’s show I saw at SOPAC!
@jack nyman
Beautiful tribute Jack, Danny would be proud-Thank you Jorma-for Honoring our brother Danny
No idea of that because those years was when I was so young, not here in America
but I know there is VHS from the Sweetwater. I have also seen photos of Jorma’s father, Mr. Jorma Senior, from 1994 in the room before charity concert with Jorma and friends there in San Francisco.
Maybe sometimes life takes you from the normal route and give you great experiences.@Kevin
Speaking of New Jersey Jorma, as a UPS driver back in the day I picked up a package from a house in Sparta addressed to one Jorma Kaukonen. Told the gentleman sending it how big a fan I was, he said he worked with you and told me to hold on. Came back with a VHS copy (yeah that far back) of Live at Sweetwater that he said he worked on with you as producer or something. He was supposed to be quite a guitar player himself but can’t recall his name. Any ideas who that could be? Wasn’t my normal route.
The Stanhope House!!! Sunday nights with Blue Sparks!!! So sorry to hear about Tucker, had no idea, always wondered what happened to him. I am dying to see Railroad Earth with Andy and Tim, but they never come to FL. Saw Jorma a few times there as well as many legendary players-Muddy and Willie Dixon to name two. Greatest place on earth back in late 70’s early 80’s!!!
jorma I just want to thank you and barry from the bottom of my heart
for playin light of this world for my brother danny my brother glenn told me about it,ireally wish I was there,i couldn’t make it I’m having back issues
but I was there in spirit!
peace and love,
jack nyman
Truly great show, the old faves and the terrific tunes from new album. And Jorma: that IS a beautiful part of NJ. Not far at all from the Appalachian Trail if you swing by again and want to take a nice hike and see some great vistas.
@Craig K
The Stanhope House ?!?…Now THAT brings back some memories….
Blue Sparks From Hell!! (RIP Tucker….you are sooooo missed)
Greenwood Lake? Where did that reference come from? Newton is just a hop, skip, and a jump from the infamous Stanhope House as well! Good times in that hallowed establishment through out the years. Anyway fantastic show! You are killing it Captain! Just the right mix of Jorma and Barry!
greenwood lake, WOW talk about a blast from the past! thank you so much for the show last night jorma. it was just what the doctor ordered. glad you and barry had a good time. you are truly the gift that keeps giving with your recently released cd. safe travels to you and the crew.
Thanks for the music last night in Newton. A guitar playing friend suggested we see you (hear you) and he was right. The music was subtle, sublime, succulent (if I may be so bold).
Keep on keepin’ on.
Hello Jorma–here’s a crazy thought: why not surprise us all in Leesburg on the rescheduled Tally Ho gig on 19 April by bringing the whole Electric Hot Tuna crew with you from the gig you play at the Durham Theater in NC on the 18th? I know, ticket prices, member schedules, union rules, contracts, yada, yada . . . but, the clarifying mental paradigm is simply HOT F’IN TUNA!
PULLLLEEEEZZZEEEE!!!
Last nights show in Newton was just fantastic Jorma and it was great to see Barry up there playing with you.Judging by the response from the crowd that he got It seems that I am not alone in my opinion. When you pretended to look through your paperwork for a reference to a banjo and then declared that you couldn’t find one it brought a broad smile to my face. Glad that you gave us a heavy dose of songs off of the new CD and I will say that I enjoyed every one of them immensely. Jorma your performance was over the top last night and it was a pleasure to hear you give your all once again. Thanks for a great night and may we all remember to Keep Our Lamps Trimmed And Burning.
A good friend of mine was at the show last nite in Newton. He had a blast – he said the place was rockin’. He said you blew the crowd away. Can’t wait to see you on Long Island.
Just want to thank you for coming to Newton. First time seeing just Jorma and Barry. Awesome display of musical talent, nonverbal communication, and good natured banter between good friends.
