A simply beautiful venue!

We beat feet down and across Florida from Ponte Vedra to Clearwater and as we pulled into town I remembered that Barry Mitterhoff and I played this beautiful theater a couple of years ago. It was great to be back.

This was a solo date for me and the acoustics of the room were perfect for guitar and voice, in my humble opinion.

Love reading your blog, your setlists, the comments, love your website and how we have accessibility to yours and Tuna’s music. We have all kind of watched Izzie grow up over the years.

A lot sooner than I ever expected, I just listened to the recent Hot Tuna 3-piece from Great South Bay Music Festival. Now that’s the Tuna I fell in love with. Jack is amazing, Justin has much creativity, heart, and soul, and Jorma, you are the Man. I’m so happy to hear this stuff.
    Hot Tuna…F–k yeah!

‘Feels So Good’ was quite often the encore for shows back in the mid-seventies. i.e. in New Paltz in 4/75. Journey was the opening act. Journey was really good – then Tuna played all night long. One of the best HT shows ever.

Growing up in the Bronx I used to occasionally pass an Irish fellow visiting his Aunt Nora in my apartment building and taking her dog Tara for a walk in Devoe Park. Saw him at various times over the years late 60-70’s and around 73 or so was informed it’s Rory Gallagher.
Had the privilege to see him play several times at different venues and he was great. Black 47 do a song about him. Jimi Hendrix had a great quote regarding him and the fact both Rory and Johnny aren’t in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a head scratcher to me.
An aside about Devoe Park – several members of the soon to be Blues Magoos used to open the garage and play giving us our own little Be -ins before they moved on
    Peace

Kevin! Thanks for the intro to Paul Nelson. I will follow up.

Wow, thanks for that Joey. Can never get enough of the great JW. He & Edgar are not only great musicians but true southern gentlemen as well. Johnny is sorely missed. God Bless Paul Nelson, I believe 100% that he not only resurrected Johnny’s career, but saved his life and made his last 15 years joyous ones.

Thanks for that, Joey, Johnny cookin’ on the Resonator, with a shot of the Firebird thrown in.

Last saw him in ’03, may be the ultimate was at the San Bernardino Swing Auditorium, him and Edgar recording ‘Together Again’.

Jorma, thinking you knew these guys, how was it?

Hi Jim. It’s on You-Tube. Just one song. Johnny in front of a mike playing Son House’s “Death Letter”. In not sure how to put the link on this format…sorry. But I’ll bet you’ll get it. It rocks.

50 YEARS OF AIRPLANE at LOCKIN. “Once and done”. Special, but a little inaccessible. Only offering a 4 day pass.

Joey! Which Johnny Winter album is that? Have been listening to Still Alive and Well and the great Progressive Blues Experiment lately.

Here’s one for you: Rory Gallagher, Wheels Within Wheels, his one acoustic album. He’s been a favorite of mine since I saw him at the Peachtree rock festival at Rockingham Raceway in N Carolina back in ’72.

I came to your music late, Jorma: awfully glad I finally got there.
i wish every venue was as nice and every crowd as attentive as last night’s. i think Brother Bill above said of your performance last night that it was “Hypnotic”, and i have to agree.
    Thank You!

Ah, life on the road. Where’s breakfast?
    Guitar & Voice. Perfect.
I’ve been listening to some Booker White, Leadbelly, live Johnny Winter acoustic, (which is rare), and of course my favorite, Jorma.
The aesthetic simplicity allows for a meditative listening experience.
    Thank you Jorma

Excellent show last nite Jorma ! You could have heard a pin drop in there.
Watch the North Wind Rise was so great ~ !
Hope you can return to Clearwater soon.

Thank you, Jorma, for one of the most beautiful evenings of music I’ve experienced. The venue, audience, and performance were wonderful.

Could “Living In The Moment” ever have been better? It was magic.

Looking forward to trips to San Diego in the coming months for the birth of our first grandchild. Saw that the Fur Peace Ranch on the Road is there early 2016. The arrow may be pointing me to write some songs for my granddaughter, and it would be incredible to do it at the workshop.

    Thanks again!
