Finally, a very little Spring
This past weekend we hosted David Lindley and G.E.Smith for our annual Guitar Summit at the Fur Peace Ranch.

There was some relatively nasty weather… but some beautiful days too… Well, anytime you get to play music with friends… is always a good day!

Then G.E. went on and after his great set we took a short break. Yes… I went out to the Station Break Cafe and got a delicious organic burger from Justin, our Chef Supreme.
Sunday in the afternoon we got together for our class picture… then went inside for our Really Cool open mike!

Everyone who participated in our open mike deserves kudos. They were all great, but when Karl Wenning played his harmonica (which is a special kind of Tyrolian accordian) I flipped!
Made me want to dance and yodel!
This morning, another fine weekend came in for a landing… and we were sorry to see our friends, old and new… head back to their homeplaces.

Jorma did you look at Bethel Woods this summer – it’s the site of Woodstock – they have a great place to play – you played there before.

Yes indeed, another outstanding night of music at FPR this past Saturday night. Very blessed to be able to enjoy the individual and collective talents of three of the finest guitarists on this planet. Thank you Jorma, G.E., and David Lindley for sharing the music, fellowship, and stories. And, as always, thanks to John H. and the entire staff at FPR for your great hospitality. (BTW – I have to agree with Webster about it being worth the trip…I trekked about 700 miles round trip from Virginia. And my old buddy John Rockwell came up from Tampa for the show. Of course, he opted to fly. There is no place I would have rather been for those 3 hours! Looking forward to my next trip to FPR.
Although I’m wary re: cluttering up your blog with silly videos, I’m unable to resist this bit of Finnish musical heritage… Needless to say, feel free to delete.

The Summit was superb. So completely worth the 360+ mile round trip through WVA where the ramps and morels are bursting through the April rain. Each set extremely satisfying, though truth to be told I could’ve stayed longer for more of all three of you’se guys playing together which was, of course, the highlight of the evening.
Perhaps also a good time and place to plug the really nice laid back accomodations at the Blennerhassett Hotel in Parkersburg. Its a hidden gem to which I see no need to alert the hoi polloi, but anyone on this blog venturing to Fur Peace might want to check it out.

Welcome spring at fur peace ranch! Karl is very interesting with that instrument I never saw such a instrument like his. It would be great to hear him play that!
