Getting in from Meigs County, night before last

Getting in from Meigs County, night before last

Well, this little run has begun. We got into Chicago night before last. Sort of rainy, and for me… being from Southeast Ohio… a little unSpringlike.

Welcome to the Daily News Building

Welcome to the Daily News Building

We headed down to the Daily News Building where I was to do an interview on Rivet Radio with Ron Litke.

I played a bunch of songs and chewed the fat with Ron… then back to the hotel and off to the City Winery, Chicago.

This part of the run is solo acoustic, but I’ve got some electric shows coming up so I was checking out my new Myron Hart Conversion/Fender Jazzmaster getting ready for the Wanee show. The Louis Electric Princetone sure likes my guitars, and I like it!

OK… gotta get ready for tonight’s show.

Jorma – your new Jazzmaster looks an awful lot like the guitar Pops Staples is playing on the cover of his new record “Don’t Lose This” (his last recordings spiced up by his daughter Mavis and Jeff Tweedy). Pops had a distinct sound, just as you do – look forward to hearing you play it, hopefully in Portchester!

oooh, Trial by Fire – I just got shivers. Hamar Promenade is one I always want to hear. I look at a lot of Jorma’s play lists and unfortunately that song is conspicuously absent.

By the way, I’ll see your Hamar Promenade and Trial by Fire, and raise you a Third Week in the Chelsea.

strong sets! just wonder if you could throw in Hamar Promanade and/or Trial By Fire when you come to the Tally Ho in Leesburg, Va. Either way looking forward to the show(2nd time around)

I give the Rolling Stones credit for the part of my comment it refer to their song “Sweet Virginia”.
All of the great start in the 1960’s and thanks goodness Jorma is still here.

The rain is in the mid-west and also here in nyc and the north-east states today. Jorma keep it going where he is play his show. It’s been a long cold, lonely winter– you got to scrape that snow right off your shoe!

    Jorma,
Penny and I are really looking forward to hearing you @ SOH on Sunday evening. I’ve been a avid fan for many years (I’ve been on my own finger picking and flat picking journey since 1972). Not that I’ve been at this pickin a while, but I have your instructional tape and I think it is an 8-track! We have great seats in the front row of the balcony. See you Sunday – safe travels.

Bringing 4 friends to the show tonight. Can’t wait. If you slip Embryonic Journey into tonight’s set list my wife will be overjoyed. Have fun. I know we will.

Wow, what a totally strong set list! Looking forward to tonight. Maybe a repeat of Other Side of the Mountain? Sorry ’bout our weather Jorma!
