Well, I didn’t make it to Mecca, in downtown Raleigh this time. More’s the pity. I love that little restaurant… we just didn’t have the time. We did, however, make it to the Lincoln Theater.

Cool...

Cool...

Really cool!

Really cool!

I haven’t been here for a couple of years which is too bad… this is a really great sounding room!

Up bright and early this morning, dropped Phil at the train station and next stop, Fur Peace Ranch in scenic Darwin, Ohio. Boy is it nice to be home… Great little run, but there’s no place like home!

Jorma about a year or so ago you said that you were considering dusting off Hamar Promenade and teaching it at the Ranch. Hearing that news I assumed that it may find its way back into the set rotation. Any progress on that one or have you changed your mind?

@William – Sadly, the article doesn`t exist in English. Maybe Mr. Kaukonen can tell more about it? 😀

@snarne – I’ve known of Jack and Jorma’s skating past, but have never found much on it on line, other than snippets here and there. Is there an english version of that article you linked for those of us who don’t read Norwegian? Thanks!

    Been So Long
Yes, it is true,I just read it in the newspaper.Jorma promenaded Hamar city in Norway the year of 1974.It was unfortunately too hot to handle speed-skating. But,he wrote a song…
Jack Casady was there also in -75 and -76. Jack actually won a speed-skating competition. It is documented in the HA-arcives. He won the 500m with the time 55,1 and the 1500 meter with the time 2.56,9. A month later he managed the 500 meters at 52,7, the same place, Hamar, Norway – See more at: http://www.h-a.no/nyheter/historien-om-hamar-promenade#sthash.Zd6tCPr4.dpuf. Wish I knew they were there. I was a huge fan of Jorma & Jack then, as I am now. I hope they both soon will return to the land of the midnight sun. We need You!!!

    Hey Jorma,

Great set lists. I hope I can get to see New Song and Sea Child in the same set at the end of next month. Enjoy your time at home and hope you are getting some riding in. The snow will be here before we know it.
    See you guys soon

Checked out video from Capitol Theatre Power Trio show.
I See the Light-True Religion. Sounds terrific. You two are the greatest…and I’ve seen them all. (Rodney Dangerfield joke).
Justin’s drumming is very powerful. He really adds dynamic fills.
The video is entitled “Triumphant Return”.
I’m completely stoked to get to listen to and see it.
    Rock on Jorma & Jack!
Can’t wait to Seeya in NoCal.

Have fun at home – its always good to be home. Had a real hot August – been in the 90’s all month long. See you in Woodstock.

I made it to your stop in Annapolis, Sunday. Always a great time. Especially liked “Been So Long”, being at the first table watching “Salty Dog…buy my baby some beer”, and meeting you after the show. It’ll be a nice story for me to tell to the right listener. Thanks Pal.

You gotta love that chair. My son said that Jorma looked like a Nordic god sitting on his throne 😉

Come back soon, and bring all of your friends!
