Izze's handcraft booth...
The Arts & Minds Fest at the Fur Peace Ranch exceeded our wildest expectations. Our new parking lots are a work in progress, but it’s getting worked out and all things considered, it went well. The vendors did well, including our lovely daughter Izze. Nothing like seeing the free market place in action I say.
Jack and I played a fine show (if I do say so myself) at the station and here is our set list:

Earlier in the day, Jack Casady showed Izze his Diana bass, and let her get a sound. Izze’s full name is Israel Love Diana Lucy Kaukonen. Love was my Mom’s middle name and Lucy was John Hurlbut’s Mom… Diana, of course, Jack’s wonderful wife… may their memory be a blessing. Izze carries the names of strong women… it was nice to see her play the bass a little with Jack’s help.

Two beauties... in perfect tune!
Today I drove to Charleston, West Virginia to pick up Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams to bring them to Meigs County. They’ll be at the Fur Peace Ranch teaching this weekend along with Jack and myself and we’ll be joined by Justin Guip for an electric show Saturday night. We’ll also be working on our material for the Lockn’ Festival in Arrington, Virginia in September. We’re going to have some big fun on this one.
Then it was home for some much needed sleep.

Looking back on the road home...

Good times…
Oh, yeah !
Neil has a lot to say about Monsanto. He waited until well into the show, having given us his best GoldRush oldies and much more. Then he started with the organic cherries:
“..these are real organic cherries, none of that GMO shit on this stage!…”@jim hitchcock

Dear Mr. Jorma Kaukonen, My name is Jonah Hartstein, I’m 12 years old and I live in Israel. My father’s (his name is Morris) birthday is coming up. He is a giant fan of yours. He also plays guitar and also plays your songs. I know it’s a lot to ask and you have more important things to do but I was hoping that for his birthday, You could send me a video wishing him a happy birthday.
Thank you
Yours truly, Jonah Hartstein
Barbara…just wowed at the title of Neil Young’s new album.
This looks like an incredible year for you Jorma as far as touring goes. I counted almost fifty dates between now and the end of the year . I dont know how many you have done up until this point but man you are really working hard.
Cool, Jorma.
I want lots of those, will order the blues.@Jorma
^^ Barbara J. , there ^^
Jorma:
Are those bracelets all handcrafted by Izze?
Where can I purchase them? (I don’t see them on your website).
Yep… all handcrafted by Izze herself… we’re updating her site. As soon as it’s done I’ll post the information…
So glad to hear everything went smooth and the Festival was a success. One of these days I must make the pilgrimage to see you play at the Ranch. Its on my bucket list. I’ll see you at Woodstock in Oct, the Beacon in Nov and Westhampton in Dec. Can’t wait!
Hey Jorma,
Great looking set list. Looks like a good time was had by all. Izze is so beautiful and growin like a weed, that’s what we say in my neck of the woods. You must be so proud of both your children, you are truly blessed. Wish I could make the Lock’n festival, looks like it’s going to be a great show. Hoping Larry and Teresa will be joining you at the Beacon, I really enjoy when they play with you guys. Enjoy your time at home aand always remember to “keep the rubber side down my brother.”
Take care and safe riding.
