Yesterday Vanessa and I celebrated our twenty eighth anniversary. This woman is a saint, and I am truly blessed! Perseus The Dog was our joint present to each other… Woof. Since I’m out here on the road, we’ll have to wait until next week to see each other. Fortunately, next week will come.

Happy Anniversary Jorma and Vannessa – may there be many, many more! – got to see the show at the Infinity with the funny vacuum cleaner story – nifty spot, good acoustics, not too long a drive and as always good, clean, inspirational pickin’ – Enjoy a well-deserved rest!!

Yeah, big loss. ELP’s eponymous first LP was the standard by which all “stereo systems” were judged. I still have my 47 year old Scott amp; an old friend called it my “cheap little old Scott”. HA My neighbor calls it a monster; I can’t keep a set of speakers up under it and never turn it past half-way. SARDINES

Tomorrow, deadlines permitting, it will be plated and served by Richard Johnson, Page Six New York Post.

I think Jorma must marvel sometimes at the craziness he’s unleashed in the posters on his blog, and he might wonder what he’s wrought…

…but then again, music is the true universal form of communication, and he knows this : )

Jorma isn’t home yet and we’ve been having more fun with Perseus, than he is.

    Captain,

Please consider adding the great Reverend’s “Sally” (Jorma’s version), to Sunday’s set at the historic blast furnaces of Bethlehem PA. An awesome song, by an amazing blind musician. Appropriate for wedding anniversaries (like Hazel’s No More Hotdogs). And it would take be back to the FPR in spirit! Dennis

He has nothing to do with this website nor anybody on this comments section.
You won’t read about him here. I’ve fried him before in the Press and I’m frying him again.

Yeah, doesn’t he look like he’s a dog figurine? You know the type of figurines I’m talking about. How on Earth did Vanessa get that pup to stand still on the piano, with activity (Izze playing and the resultant vibrations in the piano); also Vanessa is there with the camera. That’s a lot of action for a pup.@rich l

I’m pretty sure Perseus is thinking, “Let me down, or I’ll swear I’ll jump.”

On a side note, we fostered quite a few puppies and kittens for the Humane Society. One year, they raided a puppy mill and rescued about 70 puppies from really filthy conditions. The Humane Society could not get the dogs spayed and neutered until the case got resolved in court. So they found a bunch of families to watch the dogs for a month or two, three at the most – right.

A year later the court finally ruled in favor of the Humane Society. We had two Shih Tzu’s, Gus and Buster, for over a year. Little dogs definitely have a Napoleon complex. We had a 100 pound Akita that Gus would try to intimidate daily. The old boy was a bit lazy, and pretty much ignored this 4 pound dog barking at him from 6″ away. He’d actually make this low growling sort of sound, trying to let big boy know who was boss.

When the Akita finally had enough, he’d start to scramble to his feet, which gave Gus enough time to head under the couch. One of the hardest things we ever did was give those two curmudgeons up for adoption after a year. I was the bad guy, but two dogs is enough! @Doug Mlyn

Some people think that marriage is a unification, but the Torah speaks of reunification and 28 years after your reunification, you are celebrating marriage with your Beshert. Marriage is when a man and a woman subordinate themselves and their individual needs to those of the couple and it is one of the great miracles of life. As a man, I haven’t married a woman, I have married my wife and there is a distinction between woman and wife (as there is between man and husband). So Jorma, blessings to you and your wife and family as you travel the road and impart on all of us the wonderment of song. The sounds you emit from your guitar and words you speak, are forever encased in the heavens. You are the messenger and like we pull down our blinds at night, a musician simply pulls his art from the heavens and releases it as G-d’s orchestra and choir, from a soloist to a philharmonia. That is art…..and life.

I wish I had $20.00 for every time I read the book Goodnight Moon to my daughter and son. Who needs Xanax? I think my favorite line is “And goodnight to the old lady whispering hush…” There’s such a peace that comes over one when you read it to your kids, or pick one up in a bookstore and recall precious days gone by.

Hopefully some day I’ll be reading it to grandchildren and, to borrow a stanza from Matt Redman,

    “And on that day
    When my strength is failing
    The end draws near
    And my time has come….”

well…maybe my son or daughter will read this book to me – one more time.

Some times the simple things in life are the best, eh? Somehow, it doesn’t surprise me that you know this book Jorma.

    Goodnight Moon

    Goodnight room
    Goodnight moon
Good night cow jumping over the moon
    Goodnight light
    And the red balloon
    Goodnight bears
    Goodnight chairs
    Goodnight kittens
    And goodnight mittens
    Goodnight clocks
    And goodnight socks
    Goodnight little house
    And goodnight mouse
    Goodnight comb
    And goodnight brush
    Goodnight nobody
    Goodnight mush
And goodnight to the old lady
    whispering “hush”
    Goodnight stars
    Goodnight air
    Goodnight noises everywhere

Nope. Perseus is the legendary monster-killer, he doesn’t do the peace and love always thing. Jorma goes for a walk with mav and perseus in the s.e. Ohio woods. The local big-foot:”the grassman” steps out of the tree-line. Jorma says:”my doggies, I do believe that’s the local Bigfoot monster.” Mav barks to young perseus :”I’m getting old, but you are just a pup, born to be a monster-slayer, so go take care of business! I need to get home because Nessa is cooking up another chicken-pot pie!”
