Every weekend at the Fur Peace Ranch is special…but if you’re going to grade ‘special,’ Couples Weekend is high on the list of specialness! For teachers there myself, (of course), Verlon Thompson, and Kai Eckhardt. Verlon and I opened the Saturday night concert for Roger MacNamee, Jason Crosby, Pete Sears and Jay Lane. Yup… The Doobie Decibel System.

A fine night of music and I got to sit in with the boys.

Then before you knew it… it was Monday and time for everyone to scatter to their homes.

Getting to hang with Kai and Verlon… two very spiritual people was the ongoing frosting on the cake…

Onward!

    @Ham n Eggs
    Wow. I never thought I’d get in the Wall Street Journal.
    I’m not sure this is a good thing.
    I really was hurting that I was in the NYC area, and couldn’t attend the Tuna shows.
    Life happens.
    Gotta take care of the next thing in front of me.
    Thank you Ham-n-Eggs

    @Susan
    Yep and with Leftover Salmon opening for Hot Tuna, it was a FishoBaby Production!
    Indeed the Space is sooo much better than the terrible acoustics at the Theatre at Westbury (the old Westbury Music Fair).

    Yes indeed Saturday night was yet another great night at FPR with outstanding musical fellowship. The set with Verlon was awesome…he is salt of the earth and real as it gets. DDS was spot on too! Roger’s spirit is always rising, Jason Crosby was superb on every instrument he touched. Pete is always cool and Jay kept it solid all the way through. Also a special treat to see Kai guest with DDS. As always, special thanks to the FPR staff for all you do.

    I’m really glad to know that you pick up the spiritual side of life – it is so important that you feel that. Things pertaining to the spirit is the other side of life that so many people avoid or fail to comprehend. But which is just as important as the physical. You are a good soul Jorma your music is very uplifting and your countenance is very rare among rock stars. You are a very special person. That is why you shine so bright and why I’ve loved you and your music for over forty years. Shine on!

    I’m really looking forward to seeing the 3 NYC area shows this Thurs/Fri Sat!
    Of course I’ll be at the Albany Egg on Nov 20th – perhaps the best venue around for intimacy, comfort and acoustics.
    Anyway to confirm if the Beacon Theatre show(s) will be November 18/19th?

    ANY chance of an inaugural “Singles Weekend” Jorma?
    Always wanted to meet a woman who can play her some Blind Blake.
    You hear me!

    Happened to catch Jason Crosby on an episode of Weir Here. Not much that guy can’t do, and does it well.
