The bus pulls into Manhattan... nice park job
Foto by Suzy Perler
We beelined it into Manhattan from Darwin, Ohio on Thursday… getting in around 2200. I guess twelve hours is twelve hours no matter how you look at it. Nothing to complain about… I’m not driving.

Two words we love to see!

Our first show was at the Tabernacle in Mt. Tabor, New Jersey. Originally it was supposed to be an all acoustic show but we wanted to air out the electric trio stuff so we split the evening.

Tonight is Tuna’s annual outing at the Beacon Theater… be there, or be square.
Good times… always…
So glad my life long friends – LI Tuna Boys caught our annual Beacon show. First one I missed in many years. I admit I am crying a little on the inside reading the set list. Pure Hot Tuna.
@jim hitchcock
I still have two (count them: two) long-sleeved Blue Country Heart t-shirts. Bought them in 2002. Must be quality stuff as I wear them all the time. That was my first time seeing Barry.
Sorry – I meant great music not gray music. Wasn’t wearing my glasses!
I have been a Hot Tuna fan since the 1970’s when Hot Tuna played at the Capital Theatre in Passaic,NJ. You stil sound incredble. Thank you for many decades of gray music which never fails to move me.
@Dead Head This made me think of my first trip to McCabe’s, Doc & Merle. Long time ago.
Last time I was there Blue Country Heart had been released a few months before. If you’ve never been to McCabe’s,it’s like having pickers pick in your living room.
Pulled up the Merlefest website; I do not see your name. What’s up with that?

Maybe a 2 set gig….Do “Burgers” in full, take a (short) break,
set up the Marshalls and Jacks wah wah petal and kick out “Yellow Fever” in it’s entirety. Encore with “Invitation>Feel So Good” while ya at it, Chief!

Thanks for a memorable show @ the Beacon last night. It was 1976 all over again. From True Religion to Hit Single #1 it was one of best Hot Tuna shows that I’ve seen in decades. The show started off with a bang and the intensity grew til everyone were blown away. It was 1976 all over again. Great solos by Jack and Justin. Unlike the past Beacon shows when you had guests – this was pure and simple – unadulterated Hot Tuna at its finest. My seats were perfect, 4th row smack dab in front of Jorma. Thanks for playing “Feels So Good” – it brought back many memories and wild times. Thanks to Jorma, Jack and Justin. You guys certainly rocked NYC last night. Safe travels to upstate and beyond.
Everybody walking in was penced, long lines and all phones were out to see. along with keys. NWO
Great show but I missed the first song and they opened with the Ringo Rampage Suite! LOL
Electric Trio, not much more to say than that. At one point Jack just turned to the speaker cranked the knobs( if they still have knobs) and bliss.
Thanks fellas
Peace

@mikie
great show last nite. some tunes almost brought tears to my eyes remembering the good old days. keep on rockin’ boys. see you next year
Feel So Good!
Indeed we all were @ The Beacon
Thanks for a wonderful evening.
Truly great show last night at the Beacon. Shades of 1976. Well done gents and keep on rocking!
Power trio stuff is my favorite…which I will miss out on tonight as the weather tells me – stay home. I know you touring road warriors have seen it all, but dudes…it is going to be deep, blowing…full on nasty just when you’re heading to the Egg, and then up into the VT mountains. If you ever get stuck up here, I am just south of exit 10 on I89 and can offer refuge.
Just here hoping your show didn’t get “Penced” like Hamilton did. m
Just wow Jorma! The aphtertruth of the Beacon way rocks the givers Hot Tuna rock to super stay.
▼So cool
My old pal and phenomenal blues picker Dave Melton is playing with another old acquaintance Guitar Shorty tonight.
True story, from Wiki:
He played up and down the west coast and Canada until he met his future wife, Marcia, in Seattle, Washington. Marcia was the half-sister of Jimi Hendrix. Jimi was so enthralled with Shorty’s playing, he went AWOL several times from his Army base to see him perform. Jimi Hendrix often referenced him as being one of his main influences, saying that Guitar Shorty was the first person he saw using a wah pedal. Guitar Shorty let Hendrix borrow one of his wah pedals until he could afford his own.
I used to sell parts at a Ford Dealer in Hawthorne to Shorty.
missin tuna tonight at the beacon, wish i was there. here’s to a great show, rock on
Passed on the annual run back home to northern NJ and the Beacon to see you boys on your home turf in DC next week. Jorma, anytime you need to “AIR OUT” the electric trio please feel free to do so!!!!!
Started when I was maybe 55
The checkers at Save Mart were conditioned to ask me if I needed help out to my car
Hell, I didn’t look old, was tall, erect posture, mobile as a younger man…
(Thinking on my feet) See me in 20 years.
Next week’s repsonse was 25 years, then 30, then I’d reset to 20.
Wasn’t long before said checkers would just grin at me.
Been 5 months since that Save Mart shut down in preparing to reopen as a Food Maxx.
Same routine when I started shopping at the Save Mart on the other side of Carson City…now I just grin and wink at checkout and they say ‘I know, 20 years, right?’
Life is good
Oh no you got me started
HOT FUCKIN TUNAAAAAAA!!!!!
Twenty five minute Ringo Rampage Suite
@doug mlyn
Peace
Love All Ways
We just need to get Jack & Jorma out w MN West again, Joey…to the Land of No Need to Double Park@Joey Hudoklin
Can’t make it to the Beacon this year but looking forward to the west coast swing. Somebody yell a “Hot Fucking Tuna” for me real loud.
pHot Tuna pho sure
Rock The City Tight Jorma Tonight!
Feels So Good Jormaaaaaa! Ready to rock NYC tonite!
Beacon & egg’s for me this weekend. Thanks Jorma!
I guess I’m square.
Can’t make it. I’m sad.
Santa Cruz is 3,000 miles too far for me right now.
Rockem’ hard Jack, Jorma, & Justin!
I wish I was in New Orleans just sittin’ on a candy stand
love that three piece hot tuna does not get any better then acoustic- electric set in a small venue sounded really good and you guys played awesome and that mofo Justin was tearing it up….we enjoyed it….. cant wait till tonite
I was getting lost in some Leon Russell this morning. I went to you tube just one of my favorites, Blue Bird, and kept playing song after song. And Jorma, I noticed Leon had a gold tooth!
The thought crossed my mind how sad it is to hear so little of artists like Leon or Jorma on main stream radio. “The things they pass for music I can’t understand…” Leon and Jorma’s lyrics are so powerful.
The 2011 induction into the Rock n Roll hall of fame video, mc’d by Elton John is well worth a look at.
“And when the song is over
remember when we were together
we were alone,
and I was singing this song for you…”
“desolation lingers like a fog,
the fire is growing dimmer in the wind…”
It seems like great lyrics avail themselves to the memory banks with great ease.
And I still don’t see no dang Chicago dates Jorma…
On our way to NYC for our annual dose of Tuna. Looking forward to the Beast tonite! Onward!!!!
