First of all… Happy Mother’s Day to Vanessa, the mother in our house, and to all mother’s everywhere.
Today, Mother’s Day 2016, is 18 years to the day my Mom passed. I still miss you Mom… I still miss you, and I always will. I wish you could see who we’ve become, your grand kids, and what we’ve built.
I miss you Mom.

I listened to a version of “Drivin’ Around” from Palladium late show 77′ last night. I forgot what a great jam out that song became. If you can find it, check it out. Jorma goes into deep space after Jack’s solo.

Every day I wake up humming a different tune. Today I woke up humming ‘Ain’t In No Hurry’. What a cool song that is Jorma. The songs stay with me throughout the day. I just love that song and the entire album. A crisp cool day here on Long Island. Feels more like March than May, but it’s sunny. I love The Band as well – esp ‘Up On Crippled Creek’ – reminds me of summertime up in the country.

Hey Jim I thought I would recommend two outstanding vids for you. “It Makes No Difference” performed on 9/2/83. Rick Danko will have you by the heartstrings. The other one is “I Shall Be Released”. You want the vid that says Subtitulos Espanol. Richard Manuel, Rick Danko and Robbie Robertson all singing in high register/falsetto.
Sometimes we gain things in later life we never possessed in youth. For me that would be Music From Big Pink. Here I am, two weeks shy of my sixth decade, and totally rocking out to Chest Fever.

Not often you get to see a photo of two national treasures standing together, sharing the same air. I had a Vanguard collection of her songs as a teen, I can still recall all the lyrics to ‘Universal Soldier’ even after 45 or so years. Sadly, in all that time mankind still hasn’t figured out “…this is not the way we put an end to war.” m
Had the pleasure of seeing her at Clearwater a few years ago and magnificent is a very apt description.
