Izze doesn’t need to go to the Super Bowl.
I meant to suggest, that the interview take place after.

    Jorma:

Knowing that the Kaukonen family are big fans of Bruno Mars,
my thought, now that Bruno has been officially announced as appearing to perform
at the upcoming Super Bowl (again!),
It would be fun to have Izze interview Bruno, as the first in a series of what
    I call “Izze Interviews”.

Izze could have a place for her “Izze Interviews” here on your website.

There’s a big jar of guitar picks sitting on the counter at McCabes near the front door. A faded 3×5 index card taped to the jar reads “ONE pick per visit.” The picks come in all possible colors, and over the McCabe’s logo they say “Purloined from McCabes.” McCabe’s Latin motto is SEMPER PLECTRUM GRATIS – always a free pick.

I admit there have been times when on the way outside after a show, I’ve taken more than one pick. When we got home Sunday night, just for grins I got out the Altoids tin of picks and counted up the Purloined from McCabe’s. There were 19 of them. Probably a few more scattered around the house.

The pick collection is what I’ve got to show for three plus decades of at least annual pilgrimages to McCabe’s depending on who is in town – that, and the memories of some fine fine music. Besides Jorma, we always try to catch David Lindley as well.

Thank you so much for doing what you do. It’s one of the things that makes life worth living. We still remember the guitar summit concert at Caltech in 1996, with Stanley Jordan, Manuel Barrueco and Kenny Burrell. Jack was in the audience, sitting right next to us, his foot reflexively tapping during your set.

We could only make the Sunday late show at McCabes last weekend, but it was most excellent, and we took our friends from out of town who’ve never seen you live or been to McCabe’s. They are still raving about the show 3 days later, and they got to cross a couple items off their bucket list.

We’ll keep coming back as long as we and you are still around. We have tickets to Kris Kristofferson and Merle Haggard tonight, but Merle has been hospitalized with pneumonia – and as much as we want to see him, it’s not in our hands.

I turned 21 in prison doin’ life without parole is absolutely positively the saddest lyric ever written in the history of country music!

Signe Toly Anderson has passed away. RIP. It’s sometimes more than words can say.

    Jorma,
I know what you’re saying when you say “damned few of us left”. That’s true for many of the rest of us, no matter what we did in our lives. Both hands and two feet do not provide enough fingers and toes to count the number of people who have been good friends and are no longer with us. I’d give anything to be able to get on the phone and talk to some of them again, but it can’t be. This is the way it has to be.

Jorma, I am sorry for your losses this past week. My daughter and I are grateful to you for keeping the music going for all these decades. Hopefully we will both be able to catch one of your shows on the tour this year. Safe travels.

Happy Groundhog’s Day Jorma, although living in the North country it doesn’t matter whether he see’s his shadow or not, it is what it is. We still have snow on the ground but it has been an unusually mild winter so far and I am OK with that. I’m glad January is over, it has been an extremely hard month for the entertainment community and for us fans as well. So happy to see Sleep Song in the rotation again and looking forward to hearing it.
Keep doing what you do and safe travels home for you and your family.
    See you at the shows
    Hogan
    🙂
