Funny story about Bob Steeler. I was out visiting my in laws in Port Angeles WA awhile back. The neighbor across the street is a Geriatric doctor who was just a bit younger than me. (lets just call It the low 60’s)
We had very similar musical tastes and over a beer one night I was telling him how great a show Jorma, Jack and Barry had put on at the Old tTwn in Chicago. It turns out, Bob Steeler was a neighbor of his growing up.
It truly is a small world.

I’ve got enough Johhny and edgar and Jorma stirred up in me that says my rampage years ain’t over just yet. Good thing my hearing is still in tack. I got a bit of a late start. Thanks to the boys for their inspiration of keeping me young to learn and enjoy all their tunes. BTW, I witnessed Justin Guip tight on the kit with Larry Campbell, Teresa Williams, and Jeff the bass player night before at the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge in Burlington, VT. I look forward to see the Captain in the Ballroom of said venue in a couple weeks. I love Higher Ground, but it doesn’t really carry the age and grace of so many of these older venues posted in the Cracks.

yea john I got the ringing in ear could be from that tuna show at the beacon theatre where they opened for johnny winter believe or not; johnny was so loud had to stand in the hallway g s.i.n.y.

Jorma – Very enjoyable show at SOPAC and great to hear Sleep Song again. Can’t wait for Third Week and Trial by Fire to make their way back into your rotation again…seems like it’s been a while since I last heard them. And many thanks for your b’day shout-out to my sis during the show – you made an already great evening for her even better!

To me, Hot Tuna w/Bob Steeler was existing in the stratosphere.
While other groups with similar 3-piece attacks were mostly playing the same licks to the same songs night after night, you guys were always, and still are making it up as you go.
I respect that. It’s what got me hooked.
Bob listened, and seemed to always know where you were going with your creative impulses.
Him & Jack were as one.
Tempo changes, endless evolving patterns, and well…endurance were the calling card of that incarnation of HT.
After one Palladium show, 7am, a friend said “they specialize in endings”.
Some of those endings to Invitation, and Walkin’ Blues did break the rules.
But, as you taught me in your class, there are really no rules.

Guys… I count Bob Steeler as one of my oldest and dearest friends. We did indeed make some musical history together that I hope will live for… well, a very long time. That said… with all respect… that’s just not where we are today. The current Electric Tuna lineup has Justin Guip on the roster.

Bill De Blasio caused Bernie to lose the support of non-Manhattan NYC residents.
Those are the voters who were forced to walk for miles in the snow just to get home on the day of the Saturday blizzard.
The Mayor bans all vehicles from the roads of NYC, closes public transportation, and people who have to walk home are treated to the news footage of a few spoiled-brats driving their SUV through Manhattan while snowboarding behind it:
That’s a slap-in-the-face, spit-in-the-eye to all of those who voted for him.
De Blasio ran for Mayor on a “Tale Of Two Cities” platform. (The bad rich vs. the
good not rich.)
Those not-rich people voted for De Blasio and they got what they thought they wanted.
“I DON’T WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS! I want to talk about dinosaurs!” (my god-son Danny, age 5).
“O.K., Danny. What do you want to say about dinosaurs?” (we adults)
“Dinosaurs are good! I like them!” (my god-son Danny)

Loved the Landmark show. The emcee introduced you as an “American Treasure.” Truer words were never spoken. I know you love the blues covers and the “Reverend” songs, but I could listen to a set of your originals all day and all night. Peace and health always.
Tom Rush’s Rockport Sunday really evokes a cold, grey, winter day in the town! It’s become pretty touristy in the past couple decades, but I hope it still has the New England seacoast/fishing vibe. Hope you enjoyed your stay.
