A fiery dawn greets my birthday...

A fiery dawn greets my birthday...

Red sky in the morning… sailors take warning.

Well, Dec. 23, 2016 was indeed a red sky and it did start to rain later, but what a beautiful way to start the day. Seventy six… the eighty side of seventy. Time is indeed slipping away at a faster pace and since there’s nothing we can do about it, it just has to be all right. Left to my own devices, I would have just let it be another day… but my girls made it special for me. I got so many calls, texts and emails wishing me a happy birthday, it really touched me. Thanks to all of you who did that. The girls gave me a drone and no matter what they intimate, it’s not plug and play. I’m updating firmware and I’m going to take my time with this baby. I don’t want to crash it on the first flight.

Later in the day Izze and I braved Krogers in Athens.

Indeed, only the strong survive. Last night a delicious dinner with family and friends at Salaam and then a quiet evening at home. Today we went to ny sister in law’s joint for our traditional Hannukah/Christmas dinner.

Yeah... I know there's ham... but it's spiral cut!

Yeah... I know there's ham... but it's spiral cut!

Dinner, family, lighting the menorah… people dogs and cats socialize… Peace on earth!

Red sky at night is a sailor’s delight…

I once read that everything important you learn in life, you learn from your Grandma. She taught me that old saying.

She also would have me chase the end of the rainbow in the field across the street after a summer thunderstorm. “There’s a pot of gold at the rainbow’s end” she convincingly said. As I hopped the creek to go stake my claim, I often wondered if she smiled as she watched me bounding towards the rainbow’s mercurial end.

(I’m half convinced she believed there was a pot a of gold there!)

Great sunrise – moments like that are an oasis in life, no? Drink it up!

May the oil in your lamp never run out…

What a family youv’ve grown, guess Vanessa had something to do with that.

Anyway, you’ve wrote some good songs, this may be the best of your stories.

Spending another Christmas Day with the clients in our Residential Treatment Program and trying to make it as pleasant for them today as we can. They are probably eating better today than any other time this year. As has become somewhat of a tradition for me I played them the Jorma Christmas album which they seemed to enjoy, in fact as I am working with the older clients now a lot of them even know of Hot Tuna. As usual working with recovery keeps it green for me. Happy New Year and many more!

Listening to the Jorma Kaukonen Christmas Album right now. Classic! Thank you for that! Its become tradition in our house to play it on Christmas morning. Happy Holidays and Happy Birthday! To have a birthday so close to the holidays must have been tough growing up as a kid. My mom was a mid December baby and she said it was kinda like a “2 fer” deal. Looking forward to see the band play at the Lobero in SB. Peace

I’ve crashed mine a few times. It survived intact, but watch out for winds aloft. Incidentally if you video an audience during a show, please let us know it’s you. I was at a show where a drone flew over the crowd, and it made some of us a little wary (It was P-Funk, so I just pretended it was the Mothership).
Of course, these days I’m probably better looking from the above, but you won’t see my feet.
