The St. George Theater... who knew?
So last Saturday the mighty Tuna Trio had the honor of appearing at the St. George Theater in Staten Island. What an amazing venue… who knew indeed?

By the bye… while I was out in Westbury I was honored with this great award!

Love this honor!
Then it was back to Southeast Ohio where Myron and I settled down to overdub some guitar parts on a new project by my old pals The Ace Of Cups. The ladies started this great band in 1967… indeed perhaps the first all girl band… and they could all really play!

Myron critically eyes the board
The Ace Of Cups gals sent me three tracks to work on… a blues, a rocker and a finger picking ballad.

Pickin' and Wah'ing
This is going to be a great project and I was honored to be a part of it.

The back lot at the Johnson Hollow digs.
Then it was back to the Ranch to get ready for our camp this weekend with Eric Bibb, Happy Traum and me with an able assist from Tom Feldman.
Along the way I got to make some great shots around the Ranch.

Red Bud in the House
The redbud is everywhere right now… it is a paean to Spring in these parts and its beauty is delightfully ephemeral. In a week or so the blaze of color will be gone as green returns to the forest.

Twilight drones eye view of the A-Frame
I’ve been doing some sunset flying with my drones and was able to get some nifty shots!

Welcome lights at the Beatrice Love Kitchen

Last light at the Fur Peace Ranch
Time to walk Big Maverick and get on over to greet the students…
Onward!

Somewhere in my stack I’ve got Forever Changes, the Arthur Lee bio.
First up however is Radio Waves, by Jim Ladd.
Nice award Jorma – but where’s Jack’s? He’s a guitarist also. BTW while we’re on the subject – Hot Tuna belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Another band that belongs there is Arthur Lee and Love. Arthur Lee, Live in Glastonbury on youtube are good tunes.
Great show! As for the St. George, well since I live in Staten Island, I already knew what a great place it is. I also managed to snag 4th row seats which made the show even better! LOL!!!
I also have to admit I enjoyed not having to get my aging bones home all the way from the Beacon for a change. 😉 In any event, God willing and the river (or NY harbor) don’t rise, I’ll be seeing you guys at the Beacon for the usual Nov/Dec gig.
Great Pictures…
Nice interview with Myron, recognition well deserved…
Safe travels this weekend..
🙂
Cool photos Captain!!
@Robert Burke
setlistfm.com will work in a pinch
Oh, thank you for Baby What You Want Me To Do.
Could we get a set list for the Brooklyn show? It looks as though it was overlooked. Ty
The Staten Island show was outstanding. That theater is magnificent. You guys really played good. Heavy, long, sharp solos. The crowd was mellow and relaxed. It was a special feeling show. It was awesome.
@Jorma
My wife and I were at the St George. I agree, who knew there was such a beautiful theater walking distance to the SI Ferry! Great show! Love that Marshall 50 watt! Man that baby is warm and loud! Just like it should be! Thanks for the decades of great music and good times! 🙂
Jorma,
My wife planted a red bud in our yard last fall, and she’s been anticipating its bloom since. That took place two weeks ago here. I told her it wasn’t officially spring until Jorma comments on the red bud blooming at Fur Peace. Indeed. Best regard, Joe
Is that an old Fender Jazzmaster your playing?
Four or five years ago I met this cool blues guy in Chicago named Dave Specter. He had a great sound and was using a Jazzmaster. I loved it and got one too. It’s made in Mexico. I did put Lindy Fralin pickups and RS caps and pots from Kentucky in it. It’s a great and very affordable instrument!
Tuna is capable of living up to the angels in the architecture…
Do ya’ll have dogwoods in Southeast Ohio? The dogwood and redbud are twin paeans of spring down here. Two communities within 40 miles have spring festivals named after each tree.
Ace of Cups – wow, made my week hearing this ! They are awesome, can’t wait to hear the new stuff.
Great pics, Jorma. Someday, somehow, I still need to attend an Electric Tuna gig. I’m so glad you did Good Shepherd at your most recent and hope to High Heaven you pull it out if and when I can get to an amplified gig.
Beautiful pictures especially the A frame surrounded by busting of Spring.
Congratulations on another HOFentry and thank you for Rocking the City with two great shows. St George completed my 5 borough marathon of seeing shows in city over the years. The ferry ride afterwards was great past the lady in the harbor
Two terrific venues and except for not doing the Ringo Rampage,Bright Eyes, Snow Guerilla Suite what more could anyone ask for. Lol
Peace
