Back home in Meigs County Zach and I got on our motorcycles and he took me out for a Father’s Day dinner at the El Camino Cocina in Athens, Ohio. Good times indeed. The girls came back Sunday and in spite of the fact that I’m going to the full court press to finish my book the time with family makes everything worthwhile!

Things are a bee hive of activity here as we all get ready for the upcoming summer tour with Tedeschi/Trucks. With that in mind, we just heard about Kofi Burbridge’s heart attack yesterday and our prayers go out out to him and all of his extended family. There’s no good time for bad news. We were shocked to hear of his affliction and pray for a complete recovery!

Coincidentally I saw Oteil with Dead & Co. at Jiffy Lube LIve on June 22. He looked like he was having a great time, smiling and dancing a whole lot while laying down a solid bottom. I can just imagine what his thoughts were as he played and sang for us. My prayers go out to Kofi and Oteil and their family.

Jorma’s actually writing a romance novel set in late 60’s America.
It’s about a certain bespectacled young bass player from a “hippie rock group”
based in San Francisco and his secret love affair with the then vice president
of the united states eldest daughter, Ambrosia. Obviously, this is a thinly veiled
reference to the recently divulged love affair between country joe and the fish drummer gary “chicken” Hirsh and spiro agnews daughter, pamela lee agnew.
sure to be a real page turner, and a fresh take on 1960’s socio-political dogma meets good ole fashioned lysergic induced hanky panky!

Jorma, wish this tour was coming into Tampa/St. Pete, but hope you can join the TTB at their Sunshine Music Fest at Vinoy Park, like you did a couple years back.
Just got back from Key West for some R&R. It is one laid back little town. It was 85-90 every day and sunny. That’s why they don’t move too fast down there. Had a great time. This was my fourth time there and one of my favorite towns. Jorma – didn’t you meet Vanessa in the Key’s. Or is that just a rumor.
Only 3 weeks until the Wheels of Soul Red Hat gig in Raleigh-wood ……WE can not WAIT!

Tropical Storm Cindy rolled up in here last night about 60 mi. s/e of where I am. I thankfully report that we were on the “good” side of the storm, as it were, and had only some gusty breezes and moderate rain. Really weird how all the bad stuff was 300 – 500 mi. east of the center of the storm. I don’t know if your reference to calm before the storm was a metaphor for the upcoming tour, or a prognostication of actual weather to come, but here’s hoping that the remnants of Cindy will only bring moderating temperatures and beneficial rains to the Ohio valley.
Holy crap – Kofi looked like he was in great shape. Incredible musician
