Hanukkah last night!

Beauty by the Shade River

It was still in the high 40’s last night as the Kaukonen household celebrated the last night of Hanukkah. As the setting sun heralded the end of the Festival Of Lights we were able to spend a peaceful moment with the Menorah on the back porch overlooking the Shade River.
Zei gesundt… zei gesundt!
Spent some days in Jamaica with you Jorma. I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life. I’ve been a fan of both you and Jack for most of my life…40years..and at 56 now, that’s most of my life…, never had I imagined I’d actually hang out up close and personal with you. What I took from the Jamaica experience was what I already knew, which is that you are a stellar musician, and what I didn’t know, you are the nicest guy……you’re a member of the tribe!
Warmest regards,
She who uttered the S word
CHEERS!!!
Beautiful Menorah, and beautiful thoughts.
Happy Birthday Jorma and I hope you have many, many more. Your music with Jack and “the boys” is a true American institution. Many, many thanks !
Have a wonderful,Happy Birthday Jorma!
You bring so much joy to all of us!
I’ll be seeing you in Fla this year.
My first shows in this state.
I’m gettin’around
Happy Birthday Jorma
“How old would you be, if you didn’t know how old you was.” Satchel Paige
Many more Jorma – it’s incredible that you just keep on keeping on.
“You stop laughing when you grow old. You grow old when you stop laughing.” George Bernard Shaw.
One quick story. Now don’t infer that I’m comparing you to an old dog Jorma, but my Newfie is a little over 9 years old. (He’s pretty close to your age in dog years!) Sometimes when I look at him I’m reminded of that old Charlie Daniels line, “Kinda like my old blue chip hound, I like to lay around in the shade”
The old boy most certainly is in no hurry lately. But for some reason, over the last month or so, George has been bringing me his rope like toy, challenging me to a game of tug of war. Of course, he waits until I sit down in the morning with a cup of coffee to start the fun.
It’s so good to see some life in the old boy though, if he brings me a toy, well…, we’re going to play. He growls at me while pulling with his 140# torso – LOL – Ill get close to my end of the rope and growl back.
The moral of the story is, if you want to stay young, you got to keep growling
M H R O T D (tomorrow) Jorma…and echoing Carey and Ken, and others I’m sure, I truly appreciate the opportunity and privilege you afford us all to stay current with your music and thoughts…it’s been a constant and reliable thread in the musical part of my life. Many, many thanks. Happy Holidays and may 2018 be all that you and everyone here wishes and hopes for.
Season’s Greetings to all, and the happiest of birthdays to Jorma. I enjoy this forum as well, Ken.
