Can't get enough aerial shots of the Fur Peace Ranch

Moving right along here, and there’s no need for an editorial from me. I’m just going to say, ‘Alternative facts?’ Don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining. If my kids tried this on me I’d point out that not only is it bullsh*t, it’s just plain lying. Nuff said.

Down here here in Southeast Ohio we’re experiencing the dank and wet part of winter. With this in mind, I’m sure going to enjoy teaching in Hawaii for two weeks. I’ve got the best job in the world. I’ve been hanging out with the family for the last month or so and now I’ve got Hawaii and a great string of gigs. When my dad was my age, he was struggling to find things to do that meant something to him. I don’t have that problem, that’s for sure. Check out this tour page:

Yep, the good old fun loving Hot Tuna Trio will be out with the Tedeschi/Trucks Band and the Wood Brothers for the month of July. Yep, it’s going to be a great year for us for sure. This has got me really fired up! There’s going to lots of jamming… that’s for sure.

I was hoping to get a motorcycle ride in before we left, but with the storms passing through it doesn’t look like that’s in the cards. It’s OK. My trusty motorcycle is in the garage plugged into a battery minder and ready to go at a moments notice.

Things could be a lot worse… a lot worse…

Onward!

    @Doug Mlyn
    My first concert was in ’69 at The Forum in Inglewood, ABB backing Three Dog Night. I was 13, and it was very cool.

    Hard to imagine the feelings/thoughts of Derek as he plays tonight in St. Louis – as of now it is reported that the show will go on and he will be there.

    @Mitch Spector
    His parents were strict Baptists and refused to buy him a drum kit of his own until 11th grade when he promised never to play in an establishment that served liquor.
    Then a tenure in college at Florida State in which Trucks said he “majored in staying out of Vietnam”

    “On Bullsh*t” by Harry Frankfort is an interesting read, a good discussion of the different kinds of “alternative facts”: Balderdash, lies, and bullsh*t.
    and wasn’t “truthiness” word of the year a few years ago?

    I see you updated your 2017 tour schedule. Please come back to Bethel, New York this summer. That’s the site of original Woodstock Music Festival in upstate NY. Last time you were there was 4-5 years ago. They built a big beautiful, amphitheatre there. It was a gorgeous, summer evening and a great show. Thanks for touring and hitting the road again. Have a great time in Hawaii.

    It was great to be a part of history – largest protest march in US history. Reminded me of the antiwar days, only no tension between the police and protesters in 2017. In NYC, they were awesome.

    Regarding ‘alternative facts”, there was a recently published interview with the guys who bankrolled the Brexit movement.
    And it was Mr. Banks who exchanged ideas on tactics with Mr. Trump’s team throughout their campaigns, making visits with Mr. Farage to Trump rallies.
    “Never apologize,” he said he had told Mr. Trump. “Facts are white noise,” and “emotions rule.”

    Hey Jorma,

    thanks for your clear words about the “Alternative facts”. Watching from Germany the course of events in the USA, I think much more of those words are necessary (not only words, see women`s march)….

    Have nice days in Hawaii

    I started to call him Professor Orange-hair, but didn’t want to take the chance of sullying Professor Long-hair’s name.

    I truly feel blessed to have been so directly exposed, through this blog,to your creative mind, keen wisdom, and ability to communicate ideas in a very minimalist fashion. With one sentence, you totally encapsulated and described President Orange-hair’s political strategy.

    I heard a piece of an interview with the new president. The interviewer asked “How will Americans know when America is great again?” Trump’s reply? “When I tell them.” If that ain’t pissin’ down the back and telling us it’s raining, I’ll kiss Johno’s ass.

    You are inspiring,Jorma, and I thank you.

    I’d like to combine a HT show with seeing the total eclipse of the sun, August 21. Looks like FPR may be the place to go. Keep the 21st open, I would suggest.

    Glad to have visited Hawaii several times. Good destination, especially at this time of year…

    We were looking for the place where they filmed Rainbow Bridge on Maui. After driving the uplands where everything looked the same I pulled over in a driveway to figure out what to do. My friend Larry said “This is it man! I recognize the trees from a video someone took”. Sure enough it turned out to be the driveway to Seabury Hall and we never would have found it. I told the caretaker “We are Hendrix fans who came all the way from New York”. He said “The place is yours” and turned around and walked away (That’s what I call cool). Got some video of us doing scenes like in the movie. The Caretaker told us the field where the Rainbow Bridge concert was held has since grown over with pines.

    Aloha and safe travels
