Last Tuesday, Phil and Myron and I drove my truck over to Charleston, West Virginia so I could open for Tedeschi/Trucks.

Little did I know what was coming at the time. Over in Charleston, it was just bleak and raining.

I was feeling a little under the weather, but playing with Susan and Derek is always a pleasure and an honor!

I went back to the hotel after my set. I wanted to be rested and well for the Ryman!
As we were loading the truck on Wednesday morning the rain was blowing sideways. I got a call from Vanessa as a tornado was hitting the Fur Peace Ranch.

It was frustrating for me not to be there, but I doubt if it would have changed anything. I thought it might be a derecho wind, but it wasn’t. I was a bona fide tornado! As we drove towards Nashville in crazy winds… the really crazy winds were at home.

Just touched our barn!

You sure find our who your friends are when a disaster strikes. My heartfelt thanks to all who came to Vanessa’s aid in this moment of crisis!
While this was going one, we made it to Nashville and on Thursday, played our gig with the Gang ate the Ryman Theater.

Minnie and Roy welcome me to their dressing room.
After sound check we got to walk around a bit.

Saturday morning, trees coming down

This root ball is twice as tall as I am.
Things are getting back to normal… we took the dog and went for a hike behind Ginger’s place.

A not so dank tarn

And time for relaxing at home.

Good night to the Shire!
More will be revealed…
rally like the selfie from the drone and amazed to see the root ball
Hey Jorma,
So glad to hear your girls were OK…there pretty brave. The storm came thru here with heavy thunderstorms and hail and I was flippin, I can’t imagine how they felt.
Be well.
@ Nick,,Congratulations…..huge deal
🙂
@jim hitchcock
Why, thank you, Jim. Back at ya.
@carey georgas Keep on commenting, Carey…you make me feel good ’bout things : )
Spring with its warm awakening won’t be far.
Hope I can see Jorma too Johno…
One of the items on my bucket list is to see Jorma at FPR. It really is tough to get tickets – every concert is sold out. Gotta be quick next winter when the schedule comes out.
We had the pleasure of watching you before and with TTB at The Ryman. Bucket list birthday present from my wonderful wife. Great sets, good time had by all.
Hope and trust you are feeling better Captain. The show must go on!
Adventures all around. Glad everyone is safe. Congratulations Nick.
Wow, glad everyone’s OK at FPR –
A selfie taken by a drone!
Nothing I’ve experienced quite like hearing that cannonball rolling, but there ain’t no tracks around! Glad for ya’ll that there were no bodily injuries, and looks like the property damage was minimal.
Nora Jones!….now THAT lady is a force of nature!
A genuine talent right there…
Jorma, is there ANY chance you could convince Nora to sit in with the electric trio?…just imagine Nora belting out “Song for the Fire Maiden” or “Great Divide Revisited” with the Tuna boys kicking out the g’damn jams!…the possibilities are endless.
So glad no one was hurt. A little too close for comfort – you never know. Nature is so incredibly beautiful, yet destructive at times. I think they say you should go into your basement under a door jamb or into the tub and make like a turtle.
Wow Jorma. I am so glad everyone is safe without any major damage.
Beautiful set lists.
Congratulations Nick.
It’s a big deal
Just like you said, your being there wouldn’t have changed anything. Besides, if something like that has your name on it, ain’t anything you can do about it. BTW, I strung enough consecutive days together to get a bronze coin with a Roman numeral for 19 on February 22nd.
Congratulations… it is a big deal!
Sorry to hear of the damage. Happier still to learn all are safe. Take care of yourself Captain and come out from under the weather and get well soon. I’ll remember you in my prayers this evening.
