Last week I got to play on a tune for the great Joe Louis Walker for his upcoming project on Cleopatra Records out of L.A. Joe and I go way, way back to the early Fillmore days. It was such an honor that he asked me to do this!

Izze had a sleepover in a remote pat of the county I had never been to before. Lovely.

Lots of stuff to do this week. Driving up for the Hot Tuna show in Patchogue and heading home after our set. All things considered… it’s all good! Think I’ll go out to see what the pool is like right now…
Hmmmmmm….
Jorma when you are home my suggestion for the best new food product. Silk brand protein nut milk with almond and cashew : chocolate flavor. Delicious to drink smooth alone. And very good to add into a smoothie.
It is those moments that keep us coming back.@rich l
Good Shepherd always blows my mind .Intense jam filled with emotions and always played to perfection ..
The best version I ever heard of that was at Space in Evanston. It was Jorma, Jack and Barry. As Jack launched his bass solo, it seemed it took a little bit for him to find the groove. But boy when he found it! I recall hollering out, “You’re killing it!” and all at once the whole place was in a standing O frenzy. While Jack was going all crazy on his bass, and Barry was firmly on board for the ride, Jorma just stepped back and smiled at his lifelong friend.
It was one of those moments – those moments that can’t be planned, they just come out of nowhere. Moments after Jack came back down to earth, Jorma sang, “If you want to get to heaven…”
I think I saw a glimpse of heaven during that song.

If you want to see and HEAR unpretentiousness, see 2 hours 7 min and 40 seconds into this link. It’s Jorma introducing Good Shepherd, in NY in 12-08-2017 at the Capital Theater.

Enjoy the sun.
@ RobertBurke that’s a tune I’d like to see come back into rotation!
Road and Roads, eh. “The passions I desire” – they change over time now don’t they?
@Jorma
I just watched you perform a nice version of Folsom Prison Blues. Circa early 90’s. Sweet!
Every time I met Jorma he was kind and unpretentious. He is a gentle man. Not what you would expect from a rockstar. That and his music is why I keep coming back for 45 years. Sto Lat Jorma.
It’s comments like this that keep me coming back! There is no platitude in your attitude.@Jorma
“Izze had a sleepover in a remote part of the county”???Haha, I ve been to the Ranch and being from the city, it’s hard for me to imagine anything more remote than the FPR!!! You’re living the dream my friend.
Jorma during your travels around this great country of ours have you ever visited the WOrlds Largest Ball Of Twine? It is located in Cawker City Kansas not far off of I – 70. If you have do you make mention of it in your book?
Of course… as well as The World’s Largest Prairie Dog, The Five Legged Calf, Paul Bunyan And Babe The Blue Ox, and more. I drive for a living. The music is the bonus. 🙂
Mine is on order as well as a another for a gift.@Kevin Morgan
Really looking forward to reading your book and the upcoming west coast electric tour. You’re looking great by the way!
Nice kicks/sneakers. They match the Triumph shirt and the Rickebacker. Do you mind sharing the brand?

Gonna be a great summer! I can feel it. Thanks Captain!
I be done got mine ordered – Amazon to ship on release date. Clearing the decks so I can devote full attention when it arrives on my doorstep.
Hey Now JK, HT family. Was lucky enough to be one of the few that got to read advanced readers edition of Jorma’s book “Been So Long”. Gets passed out to a few of us close to the cap so we could chime in if we saw a typo, etc.
If you haven’t pre-ordered yet, by all means, do so now!!! Interesting, insightful, fun. Couldn’t put it down, couldn’t wait to open it back up. I knew the Cap could write, and I’ve read many a tale of life on the road from my favorite musicians. This one is different, an epic tale of a worldly traveler, musician, son, dad and family man. It ain’t about broken strings and who got in Grace’s pants. It ain’t about hazy days.
It’s the real McCoy, and if you’re a reader you will be more than pleased. K=I=
Safe travels, sir.
Some day when things slow a bit for you (?), I’m sure some of us readers would appreciate seeing and learning about some of your inventory of classic instruments.
I’m off to wild and wonderful West Virginia for some smallmouth fishing. Been looking forward to this trip almost as much as Larry Keel’ show next week in The Plains. all my best, m
Have a great trip to Long Island .Looking forward to a great day of music Sunday in Patchogue ..Peace & Love always !!
Jorma, thanks for reply on best way to buy your book. Also, great photo with the lap slide. I’ve really been enjoying listening to a lot of lap slide recently from Spencer Bohren to Megan Lovell of Larkin Poe to Heather Gillis (check out YT video of her playing “Gonna Be A Storm” from recent Annapolis Blues Fest. I seem to recall you playing some lap slide and/or pedal steel guitar back in the early to mid-90’s wirh Hot Tuna. Is my memory correct or am I dreaming that up?
Yer a ramblin’ feller mi hermano… hasta manana for breakfast and some boy fun at AFG.. ol’Jer sends
Jorma, every day has possibly to be good. Hot tuna Tuesday is always great.
