Here it is almost tomorrow which means another teaching weekend at the Fur Peace Ranch which means a song writing class with me and a DADGAD class with Al Petteway. DADGAD is like another universe for me so I’m really looking forward to this hang as well. Last weekend the hang was with Larry Campbell and Roy Book Binder which is always more than a blessing! Hubby Jenkins came in Saturday night to do the show at the Fur Peace Station, and what a show it was!

Me, Hubby and Larry lurking backstage at the Station.

Time is slipping by like water through my fingers. It’s Halloween weekend here in Athens. Nessa and I remember walking Izze through the neighborhoods in Athens with all the kids and their families… it was a group effort. She and her friends will be walking sans adults this year. Where did the time go? One moment it’s morning, and the next the shadows ae getting longer.
And so it goes…
Thank you Brian Doyle. The blues player
I referred to was Felix Slim. Sounded like
He was on a journey to express the essence
of Delta Blues.

@Mitch Spector
Jorma, I heard a radio interview last night on Stonybrook radio. A Spanish acoustic blues player from Morocco was interviewed & performed. Remembered his name untill I got home & then completely forgot. Of course something “slim”. When speaking, huge Castilian Spanish type of accent in English. When singing, very hard to tell. Excellent finger picking technique, singing, guitar, harmonica. Performed old school & Delta, including Sonny Boy Williamson. Travels throughout the world like you, including
Europe & Korea. Ill try to get the name if
I can but you would get a real kick out of
This guy, amazing.
@John B
Going to the Dinner With Jorma & John Nov 2nd ..

Keep on Truckin Jorma & Jack !! WE LOVE YOU !!
Cant wait to be at the ranch Friday. Bringing my brother v=who lives in Blacklick for his birthday
The time does go so fast, but as a wise man once told me:
Better over the hill than under it!
(Not to suggest in any way that Jorma is over the hill: At the Chandler Center in Vermont a couple of weeks ago he and Jack sounded as good as I’ve ever heard them, which goes back about 48 years…..)
Whoa!, Just heard of the imminent release of “Before we were Them” from Bear’s Sonic Journals. Many thanks!!!
Jorma, you must know that the freedom you have to offer your camp for learning is only America experience. To be free for learning any thing for any person is not a thing available for people where I come from. It is a freedom of expression many people in USA don’t understand value of
“And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it’s sinking…”
I had the pleasure of (finally!) seeing Larry Campbell and Teresa open for John Prine last year in Mpls. I’d always wanted to see a Prine show, but honestly, their part of it just blew me away. You all got some real good folks you hang with! m
Enjoyed the “Sound Podcast ” Interview ..Always love hearing your stories directly .
Peace & Love to all .Have a great weekend .Really pumped for the Dinner on Nov 2nd ..
Hubby stopped by Charleston on Sunday evening for a short but sweet appearance on Mountain Stage. Hadn’t seen him since the Carolina Chocolate Drops went on hiatus. When are you coming back to visit Mountain Stage Jorma?
Any time they ask me brother… I’m not that far away!!!!
And so we climb up the next hill. If we can just get up a little bit higher, the shadows will cast just a little bit longer. Not through climbing yet, are we?
